They say that the second trimester is the breeziest one: most of the symptoms subside, it’s the best 3 months to travel in, everyone start to realise that you’re pregnant and not just looking full from a buffet, people start standing up for you on public transport, and you’re glowing. I’ve been very blessed to experience all of these. Come to think of it, the defining moment of this period was the start of the appearance of my baby bump and of course, New York. I’m so thankful for these first-time-in-my-life-moments that serve as book ends of my second trimester.
I’ve compiled a couple of my favourite looks from the second trimester. As you can see, when I mentioned to “think Lean and Long” I wasn’t kidding. Here are some of my tips to look chic during this stage of your life:
1. Show off your new curves in body-con styles (think knee-length and midi, not mini please). Betty Browne has gorgeous organic cotton styles that you can wear later on as well. Leonard St has cute printed dresses in the most flattering silhouettes.
2. Invest in flattering coat and jackets. Remember how stylish Kate Middleton looked every time stepped out in her knee-skimming coats?
3. Comfortable High Heels are your best friends. Especially pumps, they are so easy to slip into. Being ‘hands-free’ means you don’t have to try your balance. I’ve found Habbot to have the most stylish and comfortable pairs.
4. Embrace colours and prints. So what we can’t wear some of the latest trends right now. Repeat after me: “Cropped and sheer tops, high waisted-anythings, dungarees and jumpsuits are not designed for pregnant ladies!” Do not attempt to befriend them. Instead, these trends can serve us as motivation for after baby is born :)
Let’s face it, when you look great, you’re going to feel great, and therefore so will your baby. So why not dress up a little this weekend? “Every day is worth dressing up for. Especially when you’re pregnant.” If you are craving for new stylish maternity pieces, head to our $500 Gift Voucher Giveaway with Soon Maternity here!
I’m off to Adelaide for the weekend, wishing you a glorious one too!
