Colour Me Happy

by cecylia on December 12, 2011

Hello lovelies! Hope you just had a brilliant weekend! Thank you for your well-wishes for my travels and for keeping in touch via Facebook and Twitter. I got back last Friday, worked as a vet on the weekend and in the wee hours of the night, managed to get this post ready for you as Part One of our holiday shenanigans in Singapore. Here are the first 3 days which consisted of meeting our beloved friends, boutiques, eateries and painting the town red, or should I say, in rainbow hues!

Outfit: Arnsdorf top, Edenborough Evans necklace, vintage necklace, belt and bag, Sophia Kokosalaki skirt (from Paris 99), Repetto shoes

I could not believe my ears when I heard that the ultimate Designer Vintage Sale was on again when we arrived! This was the place I scored the vintage Christian Dior set. Can’t wait to show you what I acquired this time :) Here I’m posing with Cary, the buyer of the biannual vintage heaven, carrying luxe ostritch pouches. They have every designer label under the sun, you can spend hours searching for beautiful mens and womenswear.

Another treat on our first day, was having dinner with the owner and founder of alldressedup, Tina Tan-Leo. She embodies style, glamour, intelligence and determination, is a successful entrepreneur and a beloved mother. To be taken out to dinner by a lady who I deeply admire was definitely one of the highlights of the trip.

Outfit: Miss Sixty Tee, vintage sunnies, earrings, shorts and bag, Ninja shoes

The highlight of Day 2 was meeting Singapore-based street-style blogger Viona Wang. The young and talented Economics graduate recently won a 3 months internship via Uniqlo with Elle.com in New York. Viona recommended that we visit Parco Next Next at Millenia Walk so we can check out the creative den of Singapore’s hottest emerging designers. So next I’ll show you one of my spoils…

Outfit: cousin’s cap, vintage earrings, top, Roopa Pemmaraju silk necklace, Felder Felder skirt, Jump from Paper Bonjour bagRepetto shoes

Don’t you just adore nouveau designs? My giggles turned into unstoppable laughter when I saw this 2D bag posing as a 3D creation. How could I resist a bag that also worked my abs? Even the front pockets are real! It’s by a Taiwan label Jump from Paper, aren’t their bags phenomenal?!

Our time in Singapore was incredible. Spending time with family and friends were unsurpassable, even eating and shopping could not compare! I must admit, wearing all the colours of the rainbow also upped the joy ratings of the holidays. I am so thankful for the adventures, the memories and you, with whom I can share all of this with.

And last but not least, the ShoeSales.com.au gift-away has closed, the winner has been contacted and those beauties are heading your way darling girl! Stay tuned for the new gift-away this Friday!

Love always, Cecylia

Edenborough Evans, an Italian Love Affair

by cecylia on October 26, 2011

Ciao bella! Can you believe that it’s actually spring in Melbourne? But the weather here is like a flexible gymnast who is a keen show-off. I had a cold not long ago so have learnt (via the hard way) the importance of keeping warm. So here I am, layered up, in the middle of Spring. I recently found these vintage Moschino pants I’ve had for years (last time I wore them was 3 years ago in Dublin) and have refriended them. The scarf is a new addition from the local op-shop, Italians sure know how to make their knits.

I mentioned an Edenborough Evans necklace I got from Arabella Ramsay in this post. The jewellery are wearable pieces of art blending opulent Florentine designs with Melbourne street style, totally up my alley. Anna Cowen, the designer, is a Melbourne-based Visual Arts graduate who trained in Italy, and has her jewels stocked in boutiques from Paris to New York. One of Edenborough Evans’ devotees is none other than the stunning fashionista Ruby Rose, who is also an avid supporter of fine Australian designers. Here is a closer view of the self-engraved sterling silver necklace, oh no still a little blurry… Hammering ’10 Nov 07′, our wedding anniversary date, onto the plate was no easy feat, but hubby did very well. It really is a test of your concentration skills and a nouveau experience not to be missed!

Outfit: Vintage sunnies, Chloe jacket (last seen here), Miss Sixty jumper, Moschino pants, Edenborough Evans necklace, vintage ivory/tassel necklace (last seen here), Damselfly ring, vintage scarf, Repetto shoes

Hammer your very own Edenborough Evans necklace at the whimsical Arabella Ramsay store

1073 High St Armadale Tel: 03 9824 4490

See Edenborough Evans’ full collection on their online store here, trust me you are in for a treat!

And by the way, for those of you who are wondering why I never talk about my boutique anymore, you can find out why here. I’m fine, don’t worry about me, I just feel so incredibly blessed by the whole experience and for your amazing support. So thank you so much dear ones. And who knows what the future may hold for Cecylia? Guess you’ll just have to keep reading and find out :)

Blue and green should always be seen

by cecylia on October 24, 2011

Hello Hello! How was your weekend my lovelies? I hope you enjoyed sunshine on your face, friends at your side and delicious food on your plate. I had a gorgeous one too, involving vetting, catching up with friends, vintage treasure hunting and styling a photoshoot!

I have to tell you about a brand I discovered not long ago, Viktoria & Woods, a contemporary Australian label that creates functional and trans-seasonal wardrobe staples. Their pieces are perfect for the volatile Melbourne weather and are ideal companions for travelling. I utterly adore this Viktoria & Woods khaki skirt, made from Cupro (think man-made silk), it is velvety-soft and has a matte finish. It’s very versatile, goes with everything I own, and has pockets! Lurve pockets! And the best thing is that it is made in Australia! Go Aussie! Oi Oi Oi! :)

This vintage bag is a new favourite in my bag-drobe. Channelling a modern Scot, I adore the tartan print and the gold hardware. And it fits my iPad! I don’t own an iPhone so am trying my best to honour Steve Jobs by taking the iPad everywhere.

Outfit: vintage wool hat (similar one here), necklace, wool jumper (last seen here), sunnies, bracelets and bag (similar one here), Damsefly ring, Dimacci cuff (last seen here), Viktoria & Woods skirt, Miss Sixty heels

Check out more pieces from Viktoria & Woods via their online store. I am lusting after their Ivory Cable Knit!

Regular readers of my blog will know that I love breaking fashion rules. Who says that blue and green should never be seen, who says that you can’t wear tops under strapless dresses, who says that a dress can’t also be a top, who says that you can’t mix prints or who says that you can’t wear pants with dresses? I won’t let a mens shirt deter me from feeling feminine or a brooch being super glued only to jacket lapels. Don’t let colours, styles and trends hold you back, embrace the possibilities, experiment, HAVE FUN! The best outfits are those with designer, high street and vintage elements that are infused with your personality. You just may surprise yourself next time you look in the mirror! And when you do, send your pictures my way!

Premiere of Surviving Georgia

by cecylia on October 9, 2011

As mentioned in this post, I had the privilege of attending the Premiere of Surviving Georgia last week. I worked as a vet in the morning, went home for a nap, pulled out my favourite Kathryn Beker dress, got ready in 5 minutes and had to beat the rush-hour traffic. Unfortunately the traffic jam triumphed, I missed out on seeing Rose Byrne….*sobs* BUT I was equally excited to see Pia Miranda, and all of my lovely friends!

The Co-Director and Producer, Kate Whitbread (in Lisa Baron), Actress Pia Miranda (in Lee Matthews), Co-Director and Writer, Sandra Sciberras (also in Lisa Barron), and Jane Hayes, in Alexander Mcqueen, (I adore her Phillip Lim neoprene clutch!) who styled these gorgeous ladies. Hands together to Jane for an incredible styling job! All of these ladies’ jewels are from the Parisian Street Society.

Lisa, looking ravishing in her red silk Carla Zampatti dress, sure lives up to her title as the Stylus Muse!

Iolanthe (Ruby Slipper Consultants) in DVF, Jane (Jane Hayes Consulting), Lisa (Stylus Muse), Kyra (Pybus PR), in Madam Virtue, and I. Such a colourful line-up!

What a treat it was to have the Producers of the film, Kate Whitbread and Spencer McLaren (also a main actor in the movie) introduce the film, set in the lovely town of Warburton.

Q & A session with a stellar cast: Toby Wallace, Pia Miranda, Andrew Martin, Spencer McLaren and directors Kate Whitbread and Sandra Sciberras. Many other actors including Holly Valance, could not make it to the Premiere as they are currently working overseas. Surving Georgia moved me to the edge of the seat in anticipation, moved me to tears (and also tears of joy) and moved the crowd to laughter. Definitely to be watched, and prepared to be moved!

Outift:  vintage Saba jacket, Kathryn Beker silk/feather dress, vintage earrings, brooch, clutch, YSL ringGhost & Lola bracelet, Chloe stillettos (From Net-a-Porter)

What do you think of this amazing Kathryn Beker dress? I tried to balance out the ultra-feminine frock with a manly tux jacket and some hardcore heels. I admit that they are not the easiest heels to walk in, but I’m always up for a challenge! My outfits are not complete without colour so I added some orange and pink accessories. So in love with this Ghost & Lola bracelet, it is a remade vintage piece, very eco-conscious and chic! Getting pieces from them is still fine for ‘Buy Nothing New October’ :)

Special thanks to Kyra and Louise for the kind invitation, what an honour it was to experience this beautiful film. Head to see Surviving Georgia, in all great cinemas from October 13th.
