On a delightful afternoon in New York, I caught up with a luxury luggage designer and viewed her brand new SS14 collection at The Standard hotel. The label is Koza and the designer is Sinje Lesemann. I can’t recall what caught my eye first: Sinje’s exuberant and passionate character or her incredible wavy hair. Either way, we hit it off right away and I was mesmerized by the stories behind each of her designs. Koza bags were created as Sinje wanted to solve the ultimate problem every modern traveller faces: how to be organized and stylish while on the go.
Koza bags are undoubtedly luxurious (the leathers are all made from top quality hide and all the bags are hand-finished) but in an organic and relaxed way. The fabrics appear deceivingly simple, until upon closer inspection you see the organised embossed patterns and precise geometric shapes. Sinje was inspired to create Koza after a remarkable trip to India. The patterns in the collections are all interpretations of a famous Indian poem. The triangular pouch above is designed to be strapped to your pants/shorts strap so you can travel hands-free!
Every bag is functional, stylish and practical. The colours are bright but not too bold, making them fun additions for a working trip and versatile accessories for an exotic getaway. There are hidden compartments, tucked-away zips, handy drawstrings and easily-accessible pockets. All when you least expect it, but where you really need it. Sinje has thought of it all. There is a clear plastic organizer in the “Mommy Bag”, padded laptop compartments in the suitcases, and Koza backpacks have concealed zips to prevent theft. Sinje has even designed an adorable drawstring pouch/necklace for your room key so you don’t have to carry a bag down to breakfast or your morning swim when you’re holidaying! Ingenious!
Bet you don’t see cork on a handbag every day? But the lightweight and smooth feel of these cork pieces make Koza clutches look so luxurious and sustainable!
I may not be able to travel much next year as a new mom, but Koza accessories seem to have teleportation powers. Just looking at these prints sends me away to exotic destinations! To check out more Koza products, head over [HERE].
