It’s been an entire 2 years of anticipation (that’s 730 days of waiting, drooling and reminiscing since the account from 2011). At last, the night finally came: The 2013 Edition of the famed and fabulous charity event: Eat Street! Running consecutively for 14 years now, the one-of-a-kind wining and dining experience combines all the essential ingredients of a great night out into one action-packed event: gourmet food, fine wine, live entertainment, and charity auctions. The event was to support Red Kite, a charity that helps youths and their families through cancer. Housed in the luxurious surrounds of the Sofitel hotel. If you saw the sneak peek on Instagram, you’ll know that the theme this year was Circus “The Greatest Show On Earth“. Colours, clowns and cuisine combine, so creatively. I had the utmost pleasure of attending with Chian who courteously carried the camera and concurrently carried cups and cutlery whilst capturing all these culinary cravings. Sorry, I’m writing this after a cake-high, and I’ve come down with a case of awful alliteration…
Vintage Jumper, Earrings, Skirt (Last Seen HERE) / (Vintage) Christian Dior clutch / Nach Ring / Habbot Heels
Luckily this vintage skirt is a little loose, thereby allowing me to sample EVERY delectable dish on offer from the 30 top Melbourne chefs and their own mini marquees. How do I describe Eat Street? It’s like walking down a “street” (ie a ball room) and each “stall” (ie top restaurants and wineries from Melbourne and Victoria) offers you their signature dishes, usually timed so you can sample a combination of entree, main and dessert. And then rinse, lather, repeat. Times three. On the night, I had the privilege of tasting dishes from restaurants I’ve never dined at. For example, Maha, Flowerdrum, Bottega, Cumulus Inc, PM24 Bistro, The Point, etc…I must admit, I may have over-indulged a little on the cheese and the macarons. But I only live once, and Eat Street only happens once… a year.
