The divine Gwyneth Paltrow famously said: “Beauty, to me, is about being comfortable in your own skin. That, or a kick-ass red lipstick.” I completely agree. I only discovered the transforming power of lipstick a few years ago. I know, such a late developer. But once I saw how it could change one’s attitude, poise and confidence, I was hooked. It is no wonder they say that during recessions, lipstick sales sky-rocket. It’s amazing that such a tiny tube of rouge could bring women so much happiness and satisfaction. I was never taught the proper ways of applying makeup, so I only knew one way of applying lipstick: paint ’em with the bullet. Of course you can imagine my endless faux-pas: lippie on the teeth, not enough colour in the corners of the mouth and smudged lipstick. Very un-chic. I’d been wearing lipstick so primitively until now. Thankfully, in this video, Dean Nixon of Master Makeup, beauty columnist of the Herald Sun, (see our first tutorial on how to create the Natural Look [HERE]) will teach me the correct application of lipstick and the steps to achieving the perfect lip. hehe that video just teaches me I do lippie all wrong! I’m pretending to myself that as I don’t really do bold lips it’s ok to not have a lip-liner! :)
