Red Sophia Dress

by cecylia on November 19, 2010

Whilst I was away at Paris Fashion Week, I missed out on 3 friends’ weddings. Yeah 3 in 2 weeks! But thank God, I was able to come back in time for Mary and Darren’s wedding. This chick Mary, we went to primary, secondary school, Chinese school and uni together! I love her like my own sister. Her new groom went to the same school as my husband. Small world! You may remember this post when I took photos at their place. Mairs, and Dazza, have an awesome honeymoon!

I wore my new Sophia Kokosalaki dress (my favourite piece from her AW11 collection), vintage cashmere coat, YSL ring and earrings, and the most comfortable vintage shoes (they have cushy soles!) which I got at a garage sale for $3! I found a vintage gold necklace at home and played around with different ways of wearing it with the red dress- trying to channel the ancient Grecian in me…

As you can see, a gold chain necklace can also be worn as a shoulder capelet and a belt.

I must apologize for the haircut- you may recall my cry on Twitter about it. I had it cut in Paris, thinking it would have been a worthwhile ‘experience’. It was an experience all right…this hairdressers (which I shalll keep anonymous), situated right opposite our apartment on Rue St Honore didn’t seem to understand a word of English, so we communicated via sign language. I motioned ‘scissor -cutting’  and ‘shoulder-length’ gestures as it was too difficult to do ‘layered’ and ‘thinning’. Then I immersed myself into a French fashion magazine and 15 minutes later, looked up and saw the shocking haircut I’d been given. So I quickly shook my arms and asked her to stop. I couldn’t say anything negative in French so I just thanked her…for the worst haircut I’ve ever had… Don’t you wish you could turn back time sometimes?

Anyway…I was in my favourite dress, with my best friends…I couldn’t worry about my dreaded haircut. Guess red is a common colour for weddings.

Below are my favourite photos from the night- I have gorgeous friends and I thank God for them.

Sweets, we should catch up more often, don’t let our busy schedules get in the way of our friendship. And don’t wait for a wedding to wear red.
