I think there are 2 types of people in this world – those who love surprises and those who don’t. Some people love discovering something unexpected, whilst others prefer things not to be so unpredictable. Or maybe we all like surprises, as long as they are the good types. I’m sure you already know which camp I belong to, since this whole motherhood thing has been such an amazing surprise.
I thrive on surprises. Especially if they are fashion related. Take this Livia Arena skirt for example. I recently saw it in Livia’s AW14 look book and thought it was cute. But it wasn’t until I saw it in the flesh that I discovered just how marvellous it is. The dense silk organza gives it volume and staying power, the pockets are so well hidden you can only see them on the side, the waist is elastic so it can fit a post-pregnancy figure and don’t get me started on the patent leather draw strings! Sh-weet! And you know what the best part is? It doubles as a strapless top!We were also surprised to see Dalek-like stair posts when we photographed these pictures. And what are the odds that I would encounter nude sculptures when I’m wearing this ensemble? I must admit, a few of the hotel staff appeared a little shocked to discover a random Asian girl take off her jacket so willy nilly. Hey, it must be because I felt so at home at the Park Hyatt Melbourne that I would be willing to rock this 20 year old nautical bandeau. I thought I’d never take it out of my closet. Guess sometimes I even surprise myself…
What about you? How have you been surprised lately?
