Greetings from Milan! Have I ever told you my ‘ultimate perfect day’? Well there are many ways to spend an ideal day but for it to be perfect, the most important ingredient would have to be a vintage market of some sort.
And I was so blessed to spend my first day in Milan at the Mercatone del Naviglio Grande. The coincidental thing is that this market only occurs once a month on the last Sunday starting in September. So not only was I lucky enough to catch it on my short stay in Milan, the market itself was just a stroll away from where I stayed! Well when I say stroll I mean about 1km. But there’s nowhere my Repettos can’t take me. These trusty ballet flats helped me survive the plane ride as well as 3 days straight of walking!
There are over 400 stalls! I was in vintage heaven.
A gentlemen wearing cute animals (mainly dogs, but some pigs seemed to have made it into the mix) walked past me so I grabbed him for a photo. And if you are really observant then you would have noticed an addition to my outift- the golden belt. A market souvenir =) There is a really sweet (and super crammed) vintage store on this street that houses some fine vintage gems. I also found a mint condition YSL dress there. The lady who owns the shop is so lovely and some how she knew right away that I ‘worked in fashion’…There were so many pieces to tempt me and I spent more than an hour in less than a small room rummaging through and trying everything on. The vintage bags were so enticing too but I had to stay faithful to my lovely vintage Nina Ricci.
This lady is the creator of the red chair and not only did her lovely smile catch my attention, so did her earrings and her espadrilles. She’s holding my card upside-down…but let’s not nit-pick.
What a lady, love her crazy accessories. I bought a pair of Valentino sunnies from the same stall she got hers from. But my hubbie has stolen them.
Dress: Felder Felder, necklace: Natalia Brilli, belt: vintage, bag: Vintage Nina Ricci, shoes: repetto
After a major day at the markets, we ate gelati- only 2.50 Euros for 3 scoops!!! What a bargain! I wish I could eat it everyday!
Thank the Lord for such a perfect day- perfect weather, perfect scenery and perfect company.
Nevertheless I’m already homesick! Hope you are all well in Melbourne, how’s the weather like?
MAJOR ENVY!!!! you get to eat cheap gelato AND shop for vintage AND look great doing it! How can you be homesick!? That canal shot is amazing, just a bit more spectacular than Savers or the other places I usually pick up my vintage!
I don’t look good compared to everyone around me who’s skinny and chic. Do they fast or something? Or because of their ciggies?
Lolol the lady’s glasses so cool!
Have fun in Milan.. it’s a great place..
Love the street fashion photography..
LOx
Thanks Lee! Yeah everyone’s so chic
