2nd Bloggerversary Party!

by cecylia on June 10, 2011

Every year when my blog turns one year older, I hold a Bloggerversary Party. You can see the frivolity of last year’s shindig here. In the past year I’ve met so many more bloggers, so it was an awesome excuse to have everyone over at the boutique for some girly fun! And the theme of this year’s party was ‘Anna Dello Russo-esque’.

Sarah of Style Melbourne, Bianca of her gorgeous Parisian style blog, her title (il etait une fois ‘once upon a time’) sounds absolutely divine; and pretty-as-a-button Jasmine, our Friend in Fashion. 3 super chicks!

You should remember Leeyong from this post, she has previously worked for Vogue Japan, designed her own label, is Eurasian (so gorgeous!) and still makes her own clothes and accessories! Can you believe that she made her fuchsia dress!

The lovely ladies at Adorn came to give us makeup demonstrations. I am makeup-illiterate so it was great to learn the tricks of the trade. Mineral makeup is better for our skin and Adorn mineral cosmetics are 100% natural, and are an Australian product. I’m a follower now!

Guests are treated to the best: Cupcakes from none other than the delicious Cupcake Central, and macaroons from Parisian bakery La Tropezienne. I ate one from every flavour because I have missed these treats so much!

My dear dear friend Jess, of What Would Karl Do, who is going to the yummiest mummy ever! Congratulations once again Jess! I love Jess’ style, always on trend but always with an element of surprise.

Recently I met Aimmey, a freelance make-up artist. Check out her gorgeous gallery here. Aimmey’s passion for make up could rival my passion for fashion. So we hit it off right away and cannot wait for future collaborations! Theodore felt right at home next to her faux-fur vest.

My dearest photographer friend, Karen, one half of Finessence Photography, is also expecting soon! Congratulations to you too! Finessence just launched their studio on 122 Mailing Rd Canterbury, their studio is definitely worth checking out. Karen bought the Mawi long chain necklace for Christmas. Her Repetto heels are souvenirs from Paris. You can purchase them (in red orange) from our boutique!

I have to tell you a little about my red pants, I’m sure you’re wondering where they are from. They are actually souvenirs from ZARA Sydney. I have mentioned in a previous post that I don’t go shopping anymore. But when I do, it’s either to support talented designers or for ‘research’. I have a love/hate relationship with Zara. I love their business strategies but I dislike the fact they copy designers. However since I am a supporter at heart, I brought these red leather skinnies back to Melbourne. I wore them for the first time at this blog party, bent down to pick up a cupcake wrapper, and my left knee ripped 2 stitches. Yeb, on my first wear. And I paid over $300 for them. Oh well, that’s ZARA!

A feast for our eyes- thank you Leeyong and Lisa (Stylus Muse Blog) for brightening our day!

After the Adorn work shop, we gathered together to clear our lungs for some Sing Star fun!

Thank you my dear reader for supporting my blog, for reading it, commenting on it and following it. When you do any of those last 2, it’s better than chocolate for me. So *hint hint*

Someone I ought to thank (but could never thank enough for) is my dear husband. He is my best friend, my mentor, my blog creator, my photographer (he has taken nearly all the photos for my blog, except this photo) and my constant pillar of support. Without Chian, I would be blog-less, boutique-less and bag-less :) Thank you so much hunny bunny!

Oh, and what do you think of these defined eyebrows? Thank you Adorn! Hehehehe Hope you’re having a fabulous weekend!

What I wore: Vintage shirt, jacket, belt, Zara pants, Marc Jacobs heels

Cecylia, queen of the dessert

by cecylia on April 12, 2010

I know this is a fashion blog, but desserts are also the love of my life. For sweet-tooth devotees, here are some of the sweetest things I feasted on whilst in Paris. This boulangerie was very close to our hotel and contained plenty of goodies.

I bought a lemon tart which was just heavenly, a chocolate cake called ‘Opera’,

and a dozen macaroons.

These desserts were consumed at Le Procope, Paris’ oldest and running restaurant around the corner from our hotel in St. Germain.

Icecream with a twist- namely nuts and spiced fruits.

A rather huge creme Brulee.

Pear and ricotta thing with syrup. It was sickly sweet but I managed to polish off the plate.

Apple pie with a dollop of Honey crumble ice cream garnished with a mint leaf and a short bread bikkie, from Ambassade d’Auvergne.

I had these dessert on the first day in Paris at L’Ardoise. Lovely mousses.

My Paris guide book had told me that desserts are not this restaurant’s strong point. Perhaps they have read the review too and have since elevated their sweet standards. The chocolate praline cake was perfect to top off my 3 course meal.

What’s in the bag?

by cecylia on March 6, 2010

By the time you read this post, I would have landed in Paris, the city of love and light! Yes, I am probably frolicking through tthe cobblestoned streets, indulging my eyes at the museums and drooling over the fashion, and hopefully clicking away with my camera at Parisian fashionistas.

I am away for 10 days for Paris Fashion Week. It is early Spring in Paris, quite cold. This trip I am taking a patent leather bag because it probably will rain a bit,  so I’m taking my blue Pauric Sweeney bag. In fact, I am going to view their new collection on Tuesday! Very exicited to see the new colours and styles.

In my tote, I carry some vitals which everyone else also carry: phone, iPod Touch (recently I downloaded a French learning course on it ‘je parle un peu le francais’, which aided me when I called to book our hotel in Paris), glasses, sunnies, pens, notebook, Maybelline lash stylist mascara (the only mascara I wear and swear by, it’s designed for Asians I tell you, but apparently they’ve stopped making this model! So this will be my very last mascara!), Jurlique hand cream

and sunscreen (the new bottle is a lot nicer but Google didn’t find one for me). To be honest, I’m pretty low-maintenance and I barely wear make sup, except for the mascara. Skincare is much more important to me than cosmetics so hopefully I will find some goodies from Sephora.  I only found out recently that March in Paris isn’t as warm as I hoped, so I brought along my woollen Country Road gloves as well.

I also have my Paris travel book and writing material. I’m always doodling and writing things down. The purse is my camera bag. I have all our days planned out. I’ve even marked on the map which stores we will hopefully be visiting and all the showings we will be attending for my boutique.

I hope you are all well. Please let me know if you are at Paris Fashion Week as well so we can meet up. This is a buying trip, I hope my selection satisfies my Melbournian clients. I will certainly not skimp on French food either. Really looking forward to going to Le Procope again and visiting Laduree. Macarons, here I come!

These are a few of my favourite pink things

by cecylia on February 13, 2010

Happy Valentine’s Day! Hope you are all having a beautiful, sweet and memorable day. Here are some beautiful things to inspire your special day with your loved one.

I cannot live a day without drinking tea, it is my ‘Eve’s ale’. The rest are optional:  peonies, diamonds, macaroons,  pink satin heels, Chanel, and a pink earring stand. Maybe I’ll add these to my birthday wish list.

I feel uncomfortable if I don’t drink tea everyday. These cups have stolen my heart. So cute! Even the saucers are heart-shaped!

Peonies are my favourite flowers. I love their unrestrained beauty and great majesty. They certainly do make a great backdrop for diamonds.

Cannot wait to visit Laduree for their delicious macarons on my Paris trip.

Everyone needs a pair of pastel pink satin heels. Stunning symmetry.

Pile those bangles on. Wow, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a pink Chanel bag!

I got these beautiful pictures from http://beautifulthingstoshare.blogspot.com/,  because ’Joy in looking and comprehending is nature’s most beautiful gift. ‘- Albert Einstein
