Recently we moved house (DIY) under a very tight deadline. It was EPIC. We somehow managed to load up a 10 tonne truck, twice. Since I was working so much leading up to our move, I didn’t get a chance to declutter. At first, I thought we were doomed for failure (#epicfail), how were we going to get our house packed in time to hand over the keys, let alone manage the move, with a baby? The whole ordeal appeared as impossible as the proverbial “moving mountains” – good thing that even moving mountains is possible if you have faith, right?
So we had faith, and the help of our dear friends and family. First of all, our parents helped, especially my Mom, the most efficient woman on the planet, who almost single-handedly packed up our house and cooked for us when we were at work. Our kind cousin Ron and friend Sam lent the muscle to help us move and our wonderful friend Lydia came to look after baby while we hauled boxes, lifted furniture and a surprisingly heavy piano. Thanks so much everyone!
Not only that, somehow I’ve even managed to fit my wardrobe, which usually takes up 3 rooms, into one room. There are a few ex-Cecylia clothes in op shops all around Melbourne now, I hope that they all go to good homes :) However, despite my brutal spring clean, there are some treasured pieces I simply couldn’t part with. This outfit is one such example. No doubt this fringe dress and bejeweled denim jacket will continue to be staples in my closet.

And now onto a different kind of ‘move’, guess what? I signed up for a 5km Nike Urban fun run, it’s happening tomorrow. I’ve actually not run for 18 months and only had one week to prepare. But you know what they say, where there’s a will, there’s a way. Thankfully, through a bit of perseverance I’ve managed to get 5km under my belt. Nevertheless, I’ll be joining the slow group and even then, I may need resuscitation at the finish line. I’ll let you know how I go, wish me luck!
Good luck with the run!
What an effort packing up a house so quickly! Hope you enjoying the new pad, and a good move not throwing away that dress!
