WELCOME to the face-lifted version of my blog! What do you think? Amour? Non? All thanks to Tiff from Bless Designs for my new logo which incorporates Theodore, and hubby for creating the new look for me! Words cannot express my gratitude to you. *Muah*
Over the weekend I had the opportunity to attend a runway parade hosted by Jen Gysberts to support the Butterfly Foundation. As you can see from the banner, the Butterfly Foundation is the leading charity supporting women with eating disorders. It may seem ironic to you at first that models and a runway show is invovled since the fashion industry have so long had a bad rep of promoting unhealthy body image. I agree and disagree, there are some models who are naturally slim and tonned because they are healthy and exercise routinely, and one cannot deny that garments look better on a slimmer figure.
MSFW this year is only using healthy models, they’ve put out a casting call in search of beautiful and healthy women to be glammed up for the parades. Good on them! I guess it’s the way these models get to their ‘sample size’ that matters. I recall one period in my life (many many years ago, when I was in year 10) when I was a size 6 and never had to worry about clothes not fitting me. I was running the Tan every day and was as fit and healthy as I ever could be. And now I’m besotted with food and have grown increasingly lazy over the years… The great thing about this runway is that the models are all ‘normal’ ladies of various ages and sizes. Kinda like how I used to organise runways at our boutique.
Recently I got in touch with a stunning Melbourne label called ‘Violet & I‘, who is the brainchild of Anna Linklater (middle) and an avid supporter of the Butterfly Foundation. You’ll be happy to know that Anna, unlike most designers, sample her garments in size 10 rather than 6/8.  I fell head over heels in love with her latest collections and cannot wait to see her SS11/12 debut at Made in Melbourne during MSFW next month! I’m wearing the Violet & I sailor dress from the AW11 ‘Golden Locket’ collection- the silk is divine! Can’t wait to wear it in summer with flat sandals.
This pleated jumpsuit was my favourite look from the night. It is so modern and glamorous. I would wear it in summer on its own with gold sandals and layer it with a blazer and pumps when it gets cooler. Too bad I never found out who designed it…
Jen (most left) is such an amazing person, she single-handed organised this event, MC’ed and modelled in it! Superwoman!
Outfit: Vintage coat and accessories, Violet & I Sailor dress, contact Anna here for her beautiful pieces

I’m counting down the days until Made in Melbourne presented by FJORDE magazine, one of the best events during MSFW supporting young emerging Melbournian designers! It was at this event last year I met amazing stylist Jam Baylon and the guys of NeoDia, and Yeojin Bae, see here. Really hope to rub shoulders with you there fashionista/ers!
