Homer Simpson

Behind the Doors

This follows from my previous post, here is the view BEHIND the door.

The very next day after I arrive in Singapore, my auntie took me to a bi-annual vintage designer sale. It only lasts for 3 days and I happened to get there on the first day. What are the chances? Thank you Lord. You know, as Homer Simpson says, ‘the early bird gets the fancy donut.’

As you step into the shop,  hundreds of mint-conditioned designer fashion stare at you. The garments are arranged in style and shoes in size.  I was like a little kid walking into a candy store. I didn’t know where to look. I even pulled out my glasses to study each carefully. They were mainly Italian and French designer wear.

IMG_3198 The lovely dresses along the wall are all new designer gear- all accessible via Net-a-Porter. I am a vintage lover so I purchased mainly vintage pieces. The only catch to this store is that you are not allowed to try garments on. You can try jackets, shoes and accessories but not tops/dresses/pants. I cheated and put a skirt over my jumpsuit. I was there for hours, deciding between all the goodies I found. There were some Bally shoes which I loved but were not my size, some awesome Versace pants which I was afraid may not fit me since I cannot try them on and I had a real hard time choosing between a mustard YSL bag and a vintage Chloe. After um-ing and ah-ing over so many things, I selected a couple of pieces, my favourite is the  peach Christian Dior skirt suit (it has little black bows and is just stunning, it belongs in a museum!). I have to take a photo of it and show you.

I cannot wait to go again next time. The shop assistants are very helpful. They actually specialize in tailoring…
