ROKSANDA ILINCIC

You only have to witness the elegant silhouettes, modern lines and balanced proportions of Roksanda Ilincic’s sophisticated designs to guess that she was a trained architect before becoming a fashion powerhouse. Born in Yugoslavia, Ilincic studied architecture and design at the Faculty of Applied Arts at Belgrade University before pursuing fashion design at Central Saint Martins in London. During her studies, Ilincic put her stunning Slavic cheekbones to good use by moonlighting as a model. She debuted at London Fashion Week in 2003, her bold use of colour in luxurious fabrics; exquisite tailoring with a focus on structure set her apart very swiftly. Wool crepe and silk gazaar are 2 of her favourite fabrics, (I should know, I own 4 of them!), but in recently times she has also adopted furs, neoprene and PVC in her collections. Designed with a classy, confident and effortlessly chic lady in mind, it is no wonder that clients such as the Duchess of Cambridge, Michelle Obama, Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Hudson, Tilda Swinton, Chloë Sevigny, Rosamund Pike, and Thandie Newton, just to name a few, swoon over her romantic and couture-like dresses.
