Someone finally emerged from their motherhood cave and attended their first fashion event in what felt like eons…
Yesterday, MIMCO hosted a stunning brunch event to launch their SS16 range in time for Spring Racing. Windsor’s hipster café, Uncommon, was transformed into a show-room-cum-brunch-bar. Colossal columns of fresh blooms complete with Chrysanthemums, dahlias, proteas and orchids (a favourite from this range), courtesy of Loose Leaf, served as the perfect backdrop for MIMCO’s fresh picks.
The fash pack, including racing royalty, Hoda Waterhouse, was invited by MIMCO’s Head of Marketing, Georgia Hack, to meet MIMCO’s new managing director, Sarah Rovis and Ailsa Rose, the new Head of Design, and of course, to preview the new collection. MIMCO-llectors will soon be able to get their manicured hands on these exquisite pieces in the coming weeks.
A delectable multi-coursed brunch was complimented by the perfect “brunch drink”: Brown Brothers Prosecco and Prosecco Rosé, designed exclusively by MIMCO. These limited edition bottles are the ultimate accessory for the party season ahead. Still very much a family-owned business, Brown Brothers have been creating their light and fresh Prosecco since 2008. In fact, the very first fashion event I attended after having my first child was also hosted by Brown Brothers! Let’s rejig our memories [HERE].
There was no drinking for this sleep-deprived mom, since I’m breastfeeding and driving. Instead, I chatted with Ailsa about the SS16 range (those orchid pieces!) and her new collection for MIMCO, available early next year. “It was inspired by the element ‘air’, hence why the sheerness, transparency and laser cuts.”
Ailsa headed up the accessories department for labels such as Helen Kaminski, Jigsaw and John Rocha before coming on board as MIMCO’s Head of Design. I was curious to find out what sparked the genesis of her first range for MIMCO. “London!” Of course, the city so steeped in history and heritage that will never cease to inspire, challenge and delight. I can’t wait to see the pieces!
Another highlight from the morning, an ingenious installation on MIMCO’s part, is this MIM-bossing station. Guests could have their race books, in either ‘pancake’ (aka blush), or black, monogrammed. I’ve never seen ladies line up and volunteer their initials so quickly. I was first in line. And was secretly admiring the MIM-boss apron…
I must admit, it was so good to attend a fashion event again. Even if not many know you because you’ve become a bit of a dinosaur :D Do you remember the days when every second one of my blog posts was an event one? I doubt I can go back to that kind of lifestyle again now that I’m a mom of 2, but I have a new found passion to capture all the excitement and to share it with you. Let’s just hope that Olympia is as well-behaved as she was the next time. It was a miracle that she slept through the entire party and didn’t make a peep!
It looks like a really fun event! :) Great that you could make it out with Olympia and wonderful that she slept so soundly through it! :) I’ve been offered a place on a short course and I’m debating if I should go or not as I’d have to take my youngest with me, and I’m not sure I can count on him to behave for 2 hours straight in a strange place for a few weeks, haha!
Mimco always has such pretty things to look at and the food looks great! :)
I know that you mean- we always expect them to misbehave but sometimes they take us by surprise :D Bubs tend to sleep more and are easier to fall asleep when they’re little. I’m not sure how long I can keep taking O to events because soon she may realise what’s going on and protest to join the party!
