Brazillian fashion boutique Melko has a knack of bringing colourful, exotic and comfortable pieces to brighten our typically all noir Melbourne wardrobes. I’ve been the proud owner of a couple of Totem pieces over the years (see Exhibit A and B). The fun prints, fluid lines and relaxed shapes transport me to a tropical destination every time I wear them, and this Felicita shirt is no exception.

Most of us yearn for and look forward to taking a break from the daily grind, especially if an exotic destination is involved. But I was thinking the other day, we don’t need to wait for a holiday to ‘take a break’. We can take a break from certain things in life that are not good for us. For example, toxic thoughts and toxic habits. We can take a break at lunch time and reconnect with nature, or take a break from technology by simply catching up with real people. Simple acts of breaking away from certain routines can refresh us just like mini-vacations!
Recently a pair of dear friend of ours announced their impending overseas wedding. I can’t believe this will be our second destination weddings this year! The first was in Majorca, Spain, in case you missed this post. We feel so privileged, honoured and grateful. No doubt this Totem shirt will be a sweet travel companion thanks to its cheerful print and versatility to be able to be paired with everything from denim to khaki. Plus, it can self-iron in the humid weather :)
Vacation is a state of mind, especially when you dress the part.
That is an awesome printed shirt on you :)
Will be so exciting getting to go to another overseas wedding, lucky duck! :)
I liked what you said about breaks being needed. I did a #strugglesfast which was a technology break, with some other people in my church. It was so refreshing and has certainly changed the way I’m spending my time, showed how many times in the day I’d be reaching for my phone when I really don’t need to!
oh thank you for sharing about your #strugglefast experience- I also fasted from technology recently. I literally didn’t have enough time during the time to spend on my phone or social media because of my work and mothering commitments. But it gave me the opportunity to spend quality time with real people. I realised at the end of that how much more meaningful connecting in real life was compared with online.
And yes, we are very excited!!!
My dad always said that you could travel with books within your mind and I have to agree with him and with you vacation is a state of mind. Beautiful words!
thank you so much for sharing your father’s wisdom!! You just inspired me for a new blog post! :)
