It’s so true that a home is both an extension and reflection of one’s style. The last place hubby and I owned was eclectic, colourful, and thanks to my previous hobby of hoarding, cluttered. But over the past 7 years, my sense of style has evolved dramatically. The ‘less is more’ mentality finally seeped through as I began appreciating more classic and timeless designs. This is not only evident in my personal style, it has also impacted my taste in interiors.
Our new home is an art deco house built in the 20s. It still boasts original cornices and ceiling panels. Although it needs some expansion and restoration, I like to think that it has ‘lovely bones’. However since I don’t know much about interior design aside from collecting pretty Pinterest pictures, I need some guidance before we start giving our house a face-lift.
The World of Style by Porter Davis interiors showroom was the answer to my home reno prayers. Boasting the largest interiors and exteriors display in Australia, World of Style is a unique showroom that serves as a playground for people who want to express themselves through interior design. It even has a playground room for kids on site! Porter Davis believes that true design should reflect everyone’s individual experiences and cultural background.
Before visiting the showroom, I completed a fun quiz called Find your Style on the World of Style website to ascertain what my interior style was. I wanted to be super sure, so I did the quiz 3 times. Each time it came to ‘classic‘. Hubby did it too and guess what it was? Guess we really have embraced the timeless look wholeheartedly.
At the World of Style showroom, I viewed some “Classic” style cards. They featured exquisite interior looks from chic cities such as Barcelona, Manhattan, Paris, Venice and more. But the look that resonated with me the most was Chicago. And guess what the Chicago style is described as? “timeless… with an art décor influence, highlighted by ornate cornice detail, ceiling roses and skirting. You will enjoy this look for many years to come.” Coincidence? Non?

Wow.. it looks like you had so much fun there. I love your use of props and Chian’s creative photography. (Winston is super cute as always too!) It’s definitely inspired me to continue decluttering our humble abode.
Spring clean is in the air! See? Great minds think alike! :D
