Since winter is well and truly upon us, there’s no better time than now to sport some head-warming gear. Beanies are not just for the snow and headpieces shouldn’t be reserved for the Spring Racing Carnival. Recently I had the pleasure of meeting Annabel, the brains behind The Eternal Headonist. Being ‘passionate’ about hats is an understatement for the biologist-turned-accountant-turned-milliner. She lives and breathes hats.

I had so much fun quizzing Annabel about the stunning vintage pieces from her online store. Her photos are incredible! Most of The Eternal Headonist headpieces are hand-picked by Annabel on her buying trips to New York. I was stoked to be invited to her studio to see them in person.

These are original milliner designs dating back from the 40s through to the 80s with limited edition Philip Treacy, Stephen Jones and vintage Schiaparelli. Raffia bumpers, faux-leopard toques, velvety berets and pearl encrusted pillboxes oh my! I chose this 70s velour wide brim hat as its shape and shade are perfect for the Melbourne winter. Plus, I can always come back for the more elaborate headpieces come Spring Racing season!
