I must admit, I’m not one for sitting still. I sit down properly only when I’m driving, breastfeeding or blogging. Trust me, it’s pretty difficult to do these standing up. When I’m working as a vet, I’m on my feet. When I’m playing with bubba, I’m crawling around on my knees. So when we stayed at Aquabelle for our weekend retreat recently, it was such a luxury to just sit, relax and read a book. One of my new year resolutions was to read a new book every week. I think I failed at week 2. That said, I have been trying to read every day. Even if it’s a picture book. A picture book I read to Winston.

This bag is a life saver. Ok, technically it’s a sleep saver. But for a new mom, it’s pretty much the same thing! Before he wore this to sleep, he often kicked off his blankets at night and would cry because he was cold, despite having the heating on in his room. But with the Uh-Oh! sleeping bag, he’s snug as a bug in a rug! And I can have more sleep! It’s a win-win for everyone. If only they made these in adult sizes!

I met a lovely lady at the Dolce & Gabbana store launch last month, and no, it wasn’t Kylie Minogue. Although she was indeed very sweet too. I met a school teacher who told me the secret to good literary skill in children. She advised me to read a book a day to Winston. Apparently if you read 1000 books to your kid by the time they start school, then they’re pretty much guaranteed to do well academically because they would already have advanced comprehension skills. She read a book a day to her kids every morning, just after they’ve woken up, rather than at night. Because we all know what happens when we read at night…zzz….
