Helena Christensen Walking in LMFF

by cecylia on March 21, 2011

So, after my full-on day composing of a showing, a visit to my old school, coffee break with a friend, going to 2 runway shows at GPO, and a movie at ACMI, I headed home for a nanna-nap before the LMFF Menswear Runway Show. However my barky dogs prevented me from getting zzzz because of their woofs. So please excuse me for looking so tired.

How could I resist a cow in a tree?

It was awesome to see my girlfriend Jess (What Would Karl Do), also in black and white. Trust me, we did not discuss this before hand! I actually bought a vintage tuxedo for my husband but he wasn’t keen on wearing it so I ‘stole’ the pants. When I saw the white ruffled shirt, also vintage, I knew these  are a marriage in heaven. The irony is that a few weeks ago I was musing to myself…wouldn’t it be cool to attend the Menswear Runway show in a demi-tux? So when I was called earlier today to confirm that I could attend, I knew instantly what I was going to wear!

The labels shown, in alphabetical order, are Arthur Galan AG, Alpha60, Autonomy, Campaign, Farage, From Britten, Threeoverone and Vanishing Elephant. I simply loved this white double-breasted suit. And yeah, I’d wear it too!

Note the uber cool Jefferson Hack (left of the dude with the hat), magazine editor of Dazed & Confused. Actually this is how I feel right now…due to lack of sleep…

The Face of LMFF – Melissa George. The photos of her in the LMFF booklet was shot in Oct 2010, she was a brunette then. Both she and Grant Pearce, Creative director of LMFF, are applauding because….

Supermodel Helena Christensen is in the house!!! She is the guest model of the Menswear Runway Show, she is dressed in Alex Perry and wearing Specsavers frames. She is the Ambassador of Specsavers and has also photographed campaigns for them! Yes on the other side of the lens!

After a few decades of modling, not only does Helena still have her stunning Danish looks, she still has her famous walk- and does she walk well! The other ironic thing is that earlier today I went to watch ‘Catwalk’ at ACMI and in the movie, Helena actually talks about ageing models! And here she is, in the flesh!

The photographers were in over-drive.

Energy-packed dancers performed in between the runway collections and got everyone in the mood for more action!

I loved the library books and belt as props for the Preppy Look.

Absolutely Stunning. This wrap-dress is too sexy for words.

So thank you LMFF for having me. I knew this runway show was one NOT to be missed, so even though I was deeply sleep-deprived, my excitement drowned my drowsiness.

The beautiful Lou Pardi, editor-at-large of Peppermint Magazine, also in a Hannah Blouse by Bento! And the most amazing leather neck-piece! Go blouse-and-pants ensembles! :)

With the Caped Crusader- gorgeous Micah Gianelli of Raww//Blog. She has the most luscious locks!

And her boyfriend, photographer J-Dawg, in the most insane Jeremy Scott for Adidas jacket, the epaulets are detachable!!!

Ok, couldn’t resist the giant rabbit either :) In vintage-everything (shirt, brooch, belt, pants and clutch), except the Snail ring (a souvenir from Malaysia), the Specsavers glasses and the Midas wedges. I hope you’ve enjoyed these LMFF posts, because there are more coming our way!

Lifestyle Party

by cecylia on January 4, 2011

After my morning of personal shopping, followed my stuffing my face with food and cake, I headed down to the Sangringham Yacht Club for a runway show by many talented Aussie designers. I was contemplating about getting changed but I didn’t want to be late for the show, as my good friend Miss Lyndel Yeo (MLY)was showcasing her pieces. You may recall some beautiful designs from this show

So yes…I was the most inappropriately dressed person at the party, there’s not an ounce of Beach Glam look on me… oh well…I’ll just bear it and grin it.

Lyndel in her own designs and Damselfly jewellery. I’m in a vintage tuxedo shirt, tweed jacket, Alldressedup pants, Miu Miu shoes, Mawi necklace, Damselfly ring and vintage watch.

My favourite look from the show -the MYL dress is so glamorous and stunning! I love the colours together. The models were from Giant

Beautiful ladies donned gorgeous summer frocks.

Another two looks I adored- summer is the perfect time to embrace colour and shorten the hem. Don’t be afraid to show off those toned legs ladies! I loved the beautiful resin floral jewellery on the show, they were all hand-made by the talented Joolz

Chilling with the lovely Sarahs – from Sarah Style Emporium (L) in Camilla & Marc; Style Melbourne (R) in Pamela Usanto, a very talented local designer.

I got my vintage Christian Dior bag from the local thrift store. I paid hardly anything for it and it’s in MINT condition, not a mark inside. Very Very Blessed.

A design student in MLY jacket and the most beautiful Willow scarf.

Some killer heels – apparently not Givenchy…

No party is a party without the beautiful celebrity stylist Amber Renae, who was the host of the show. Her Dolce & Gabbana heels were the most beautiful pair at the party. Note that they are missing something…

Hope you are all having a fashionable start to the year. Best wishes for any and all of your projects this week!

Love, licks and lollipops

$2500. One Hour.

by cecylia on January 1, 2011

OK before you think I had that kind of cash to burn. Stop and read:

A few weeks ago I had really a full-on day. I got up early to head to South Melbourne for some personal shopping with clients who had won a major competition. They got $2500 to spend at anywhere they like in South Melbourne and they had a chaperone, a stylist, moi. This couple was lovely, they spent most of their wins on their future wedding! And right before Christmas! I can’t think of a better time to win money! And guess what? They spent it in one hour! What a record!

I love doing personal shopping. I do it a lot for friends when I have free time. In fact since I was young many have told me that I should be a personal shopper, because of my adoration of shopping and my magpie eyes at scouting out lovely things but I didn’t realise back then that it was a real profession…

Anyhoo, this is not a public resume, I actually wanted to share some photos from my cousin’s engagement party, which I attended afterwards. That night I also attended a runway show…you’ll have to wait for the next post to see all the pictures.

This is the most professional gear I could dig out of my wardrobe- vintage tuxedo shirt, tweed jacket and my new Alldlressedup pants which I refuse to take off, and my Miu Miu patent courts. The jewellery should look familiar to you- Mawi Dynamite necklace, Damselfly ring (ok this is a newie) and my big mamma vintage watch. This watch keeps me away from being late.

There was so much food, this is the dessert. The future-groom baked 6 apple pies! Pavlovas and brownies also satiated our sweet teeth. Luckily I wore loose clothing so I could have thirds =P But I still couldn’t help myself when I saw these carved fruit…

It was a big family day out, so kids ran between our legs. As you know, I’m a lover of all things cute and beautiful, that’s why this hand-knitted zebra toy didn’t escape my little eyes…

So in love with these pants, they are the most flattering and comfortable pants I own, even better than these...

You are the apple of my eye.

Happy New Year everyone! Are you pumped about 2011?

MLY’s 5th Birthday Bash

by cecylia on September 5, 2010

I really wanted to get into the swing of Melbourne Spring Fashion Week this year so I booked a few events to attend in the evening, as I work full-tine during the day. One such event was the 5th Birthday Bash by Miss Lyndel Yeo. The talented Melbournian designer’s Black label has turned half a decade old, so Lyndel decided to hold a runway show for the fashion elite at The Trust. I can’t believe that this girl designs 6 collections per year!

The host of the night was the gorgeous Lindy Klim, who is one of the most beautiful girls in Melbourne, in my view. And she was even more stunning (and slim) in real life!

Lindy and her sister-in-law. Lindy’s dress is from Lyndel’s Black Label collection. I love the sheer half of it. But then again, everything looks good on her.

The gorgeous girl in red is wearing a Miss Lyndel Yeo creation. My Marc Jacobs shoes have such a high heel I didn’t know where I was stepping, until I heard a rip. Her s(p)lit got higher thanks to me, but she thought the dress looked better now thanks to my clumsiness.

When I tried to make a booking for the event a week ago, the tickets were all sold out! But the wonderful Lyndel personally came to the boutique to give me 2 front-row tickets she had up her sleeves =)  Did I mention also that the dress code was ‘Red Carpet’?

Unfortunately all of my floor length gowns are at my parents’ house and I haven’t worn a long dress since my wedding. Since I only had 1 day to prepare my outfit (because I left it to the last minute), I pulled our a velvet trimmed black tuxedo that I had up, my closet.

I bought this outfit over 5 years ago and yes the pants were tighter! I only had 1 day to get in shape and I don’t like not eating. So I went on the exercise bike and read a book. Wish I had a long dress on instead like these ladies…

Aside from seeing Lyndel’s stunning African-themed collection and meeting a Melbourne A-lister, the highlights of the night were meeting Style Melbourne, Samantha from Fashion Recruit, she is also the designer of Melbourne-based label Bento, Lou from Peppermint Magazine, and the Fashionising team- Daniel and Tanya.

Sarah’s gorgeous dress is by Bettina Liano. Sam’s Ksubi glasses are to die for, her Ruby dress is from her own collection, so chic!

And no party would be a party without the stunning Amber Renae and her talented designer BFF Anthony Capon, who is designing for Etal. I believe Amber is wearing a creation by Anthony. He’s the only one wearing a skirt!

Necklace: Aris Geldis Paris; Jacket: Manning Cartell; Pants: Nicola Finnetti; shoes: Marc Jacobs; clutch: vintage Tippy

Thanks Miss Lyndel for a fabulous night and many thanks to my exercise bike.

By the way did you know that ‘milk’ is Klim spelt backwards?
