Nicole Brundage

Amazing people I’ve met

by cecylia on October 12, 2010

I’m back in Melbourne! And missing Paris terribly. Here are a few people I want to introduce you to.. some of which need no introduction

1. Christine Barro- owner and buyer of her amazing accessories boutique in Melbourne. I like to consider her as my mentor.

2. Elena from Nicole Brundage. I felt so rude because I interrupted her lunch but she still gave me an excellent showing of the latest collection from the New-York based shoe designer.

3. Mawi, the jewellery designer!!! I couldn’t’ believe my luck to have her explain to me the inspirations of her latest jewellery collections. She designs 2 lines every season- the Costume Luxe and Heirloom collections. Don’t you love her vintage kimono cape?

Wearing MaxMara cashmere cape, vintage YSL dress, YSL belt, MAWI jewellery, Omero leggings, vintage clutch and Fendi boots.

4. I met another young talented jewellery designer. It turns out that Jacey Withers and I have so much in common- we’re both pastor’s kids and we’re passionate about animals. Apparently he really wanted to be a vet when he was little, and me? A jewellery designer =D Most of his pieces are endangered species- like the snow leopard. His new collection is inspired by love lost at sea. The pieces are as romantic as they sound.

5. And finally, the designer everyone loves- Diane von Furstenberg. The original creator of the wrap dress. I saw her at Milan Paris Fashion Week (read here) but I was a little awestruck so I didn’t say ‘hi’ but this time in Paris, my skin was thicker and my courage was stronger from all the sugary goodness I’ve been indulging in. Her boutique was actually just around the corner from our apartment in Paris. When she learnt that I was from Australia she told me that she’s about to open a DVF store in Sydney! Lucky Sydney-fashionistas! Ah looking at the divine Diane and those legs, perhaps I should take up Pilaties too?

Wearing See by Chloe dress, Miu Miu dress (as coat), snakeskin boots…should have asked Diane what she was wearing…

Spending a week in Paris has educated me more than text books every could in the same time. I’ve learnt so much from the people, the culture, and from their appreciation of the fine arts and cuisine. I’ve learnt to dress better, eat better, see more art, walk more and chew slower. Let’s hope these new habits never go away…

Things that make you go mmm

by cecylia on June 7, 2010

I was scrolling through some pictures from our trip in March to Paris for Fashion Week and realized that I haven’t posted some gorgeous show pictures! Here’s a sneak peak of the behind-the-scenes photos =)

I introduced Nicole Brundage shoes in a previous post. I became a huge fan and even thought about stocking her stuff in our boutique…We’ll see how that goes. But here are some shots I took at the Premiere Classe Showroom in Paris. These shoes were to die for, and were so comfortable.

I came across a Parisian jewelry label Aris Geldis. Here are some samples of his creations. Vintage -inspired heavenly goodness to adorn the necks of all lovelies.

I fell hard for Miss Bibi jewelry. I begged her to sell me some of the sample pieces on the last day of the showing but she rejected me! I wanted that Man ring so bad! I will hassle her again in September…

I saw a folded-pig gold-plated necklace by her in the current UK Elle. Oh I love Miss Bibi!

Have you discovered any hip new labels/designers lately? Share and tell!

Pair up with Nicole Brundage

by cecylia on March 25, 2010

Discovering new designers is like finding a new flavour of icecream or Pringles. A new shoe label I came across whilst in Paris and am coveting right now is Nicole Brundage. Texan-born Brundage graduated from Stanford University with a degree in Fine Arts and Art History. She studied fashion design at Milan and was an intern at Giorgio Armani. She collaborated with Manalo Blahnik whilst working for Zac Posen in NY. In 2006 she launched her own luxury women’s shoe-wear. She has since collaborated with major Italian fashion houses such as Furla, Salvatore Ferragamo and Max Mara. An impressive CV, I’d say.

Her beautiful sleek designs are a testimony to her solid academic background and experienced craftswomanship.

I was really drawn to her simple, sturdy and solid designs.

Sleek and tall, just the way women like to feel in Nicole Brundage’s shoes.

She has recently launched a new line of shoes which I was lucky enough to have viewed in Paris: ACROBATS OF GOD. They were made mainly from elastic bands that conformed to the natural contour of our feet. Beautiful and sensuous.

Tell me what you think of them…

Definitely one to watch, and a pair to wear.
