I can’t remember that last time I had a full night’s rest. Circa November 2013, before Winston was born? Ever since then, waking up 1-5 times a night has become the norm for the Kee household. Sleep? What’s that again?
People always get a shock when they find out how little sleep I get. “But you look so refreshed!” They are so kind.
I’m pretty sure that the NARS concealer I cake under my eyes every morning has something to do with it. But believe it or not, the real remedy to my tiredness are promises from the Bible. I claim the truth and power from these verses every day, especially around 3pm…
I literally get a burst of energy, refreshment and joy when I recall: “I will refresh the weary and satisfy the faint” from Jeremiah 31:25, and “but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” from Isaiah 40:31.
Another thing I can think of is that I smile a lot. Aside from helping release many endorphins, it’s great for facial musculature. It’s not easy to always be joyful, especially when circumstances and situations don’t go to plan (like when your kid doesn’t want to nap or sleep at night…sorry I digress), I have to remind myself of all the things to be grateful for. Thankfully, it’s difficult not to smile when you start counting your blessings!
So whether or not God puts on me a ‘put-together’ filter that trumps even those on Instagram or ‘refreshed-coloured’ lenses on the eyes of those kind people, He is the source of life, so there is no better place to turn than to Him for rest and rejuvenation!
