Things that make you go mmm

by cecylia on June 7, 2010

I was scrolling through some pictures from our trip in March to Paris for Fashion Week and realized that I haven’t posted some gorgeous show pictures! Here’s a sneak peak of the behind-the-scenes photos =)

I introduced Nicole Brundage shoes in a previous post. I became a huge fan and even thought about stocking her stuff in our boutique…We’ll see how that goes. But here are some shots I took at the Premiere Classe Showroom in Paris. These shoes were to die for, and were so comfortable.

I came across a Parisian jewelry label Aris Geldis. Here are some samples of his creations. Vintage -inspired heavenly goodness to adorn the necks of all lovelies.

I fell hard for Miss Bibi jewelry. I begged her to sell me some of the sample pieces on the last day of the showing but she rejected me! I wanted that Man ring so bad! I will hassle her again in September…

I saw a folded-pig gold-plated necklace by her in the current UK Elle. Oh I love Miss Bibi!

Have you discovered any hip new labels/designers lately? Share and tell!

God is in the detail

by cecylia on November 7, 2009

God is in the details.” Ludwig Mies van der Rohe quotes (German born American Architect. 1886-1969).

Accessories can make or break an outfit. My favorite jewelry would have to be vintage. They just don’t make them like thy used to. I love vintage belts too. I am starting to stray from vintage shoes now as my new ideal shapes are not the T-bars, Mary-Janes or the classic pumps of the 60s, but I prefer studs, straps, buckles and more hard-core looking footwear. Don’t get me wrong, I still love dainty shoes with bows and flowers, but I think footwear is heading toward a different direction which is great. We are seeing more laces, taller heels, more detail, innovative architectural types. And it is all in the details.

As you all know, I am an avid fan of Jane Aldridge of Sea of Shoes. This girl not only owns bookshelves of heels and boots. She is blessed with a fine taste in clothes as well. Check out her one-shoulder jacket below. I think it’s wicked.

And her studded vintage belt, I am bedazzled. The apricot leather is the perfect shade for every outfit she wants to cinch her little waist with.

Of course, Jane’s fashion talents are credited to her beautiful mother. Here is her mother wearing a gold claw necklace and a black leather fisherman’s vest. Both of which I adore. The ruched leather and the claw echo one another.

I think both Jane and her mother have these Ann Demeulemeester lace up sandal boots. Jane has these in black, tan and white.  The multi-straps are mesmerizing. I love the repetitive motif on the ground as well.

Moving away from Jane and her mother, this girls’ outfit is very cute, but her bag is definitely the highlight. What a great size. I simply adore the eyelets and the double front pockets. Picture perfect. If only I knew where she got it from…

Here is another lady who knows how to work her accessories. More is more? I think this is only true with classics. This lambskin Marc Jacobs clutch is such a great size- it fits all the essentials and it is still handle-able. Big ticks on the cream blazer and the rolled up sleeves.

One of the reasons why I believe God created the universe is because designers have to go through years of studying, training, they need to have creative visions, pour their hearts out into research every season and then only then they are able to transform their wondrous thoughts onto sketching paper, and then into amazing garments and accessories. I just cannot believe that the intricate universe we live in was not designed and that it was the result of random biochemical and physical reactions.
