Vintage Everything // Uterqüe Heels
Picture this. After a 2 year hiatus from Melbourne Spring Fashion Week, you’ve just been invited to attend runway show. You want to make a bit of an effort but most of the clothes in your closet no longer fit you. What do you do?
A. Get stressed and eat chocolate!
B. Go shopping!
C. Pray.
Previously, I often defaulted to option A even though it is precisely the cause of the problem. Some habits die hard. But thankfully, a memorable verse “why do you worry about clothes?” sprung to mind, as did a certain frock I’d seen in an opshop over a month ago.
What are the chances that it would still be there after all this time? I almost wish I’d bought it when I first saw it! But I refused to entertain the thought of ‘what if it’s not there?” Some call it “clothes fate”, some say “it was meant to be”, but I thank God. Somehow, I was certain that it’d be there and sure enough, it hung on the rack as if it had been waiting for me all this time.
Last night, the picturesque backdrop to the show was a series of moving images of flower-scapes. It was like peering through a world brimming with blooms. The standout of Opening Night for me was Akira’s creations. His bouquet-clutching-and-wearing models held long stemmed orchids and had giant rose wreaths draped around their swan-like necks. The orchestration of beauty and blossom was purely breathtaking.
So next time I get anxious about what to wear, I’ll be sure to remember this passage from Matthew Chapter 6: “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin… If that is how God clothes the grass of the field… will he not much more clothe you?”
Lovely from head to toe! Dressed by the Master Designer!
Who could ask for more.?

That is a beautiful dress – and how wonderful it was still there when you went back for it! Definitely meant to be :)
