I bought my first garment from New-Zealand-born Australian-based designer Amy Kaehne. She is one of these young emerging designers that is steadily and surely setting her name to be one to watch and her label one to follow.
Amy is inspired by Tim Burton’s creativity and together with her meticulous use of the finest fabrics in classic cuts with a modern twist, her garments are bound to last and to be treasured forever. At least this is what I thought when I got my Amy Kaehne cape! See these beautiful photos from her SW10 collection. And yes our boutique stocks her latest SS11 collection and she has made gorgeous summer capes! Be a heroine, at all times.
This Amy Kaehne cape is going to be one of my all time favourite Fall staples. Wrapped in wool and silk, luxury and comfort doesn’t get much better than this. Plus the cape comes with a scarf and pockets! The Hello brooch is a treaured souvenir from a talented London-based young emerging designer (sorry I’ve forgotten her name!) who hand-sewed all of her quirky creations. Spitalfields Market is awesome for finding unusual accessories. You would have seen the brooch in this post ‘Secret Identity’ as well.

There are many advantages of being a boutique owner: I get to do the buying, every 6 months; I get to wear clothes designed by people I believe in, I get to tell everyone who visits about the designers’ inspirations and I get to eat cupcakes.
I often get asked if I miss being a vet…and the answer is actually I am still a vet- 1.5 days a week! So I still get to play with cute puppies and kittens, perform their desexing operations and give advice to pet owners. I just don’t get scratched as often as I used to.
Everyone knows about the clothing labels we stock now. As well as being the largest stockist of Repetto shoes in Melbourne, we are also proud to bring you Omero stockings. This Italian hosiery label makes the most decorative tights and they are durable. Check these green ones out! I really didn’t expect them to be so wearable…
Teaming up my Spijkers en Spijkers silk big star top with a vintage leather skirt, vintage necklaces, Zara jacket, a ‘Hello’ brooch I got from Spitalfield Market in London and Midas heels. The mannequin next to me has Gail Sorronda’s Innocence dress on. It has a sweet heart neckline, so demure, so Valentino. The perfect LBD.

The best thing about both of my jobs is that I can bring my son Theodore to work everyday.
So here it is. Now you know my secret identity. I’m sure that many of us with a nerdy background actually have bucket loads of creativity hibernating inside of us, waiting for the right opportunity to burst forth and make a statement. So guys, spill!

Those who know me, know about my obsession with jumpsuits. You can read this post, or this one. I own a ridiculously large amount of them and they are definitely my first choice when I am deciding what to wear. They are the new ‘dress’, more chic but a little more difficult when nature calls. This week I wore a vintage jumpsuit at a few occasions just to prove the point- jumpsuits are the best invention so far.
I wore it to a birthday lunch, teamed with a star brooch and grey waist belt.
Here I am attempting a ‘Shop Chic’ moment at the boutique. Wearing a Felder Felder spikey belt and some metallic blue slippers. And for those who have not met Theodore, he’s my son, a full-grown teeny long-haired Chihuahua.
After work, I attended a house-warming and got a lot of dog hair all over me. Dogs and diamonds really are our best friends.

I love the feeling of being carefree in another country. On my first day in Paris, I gathered enough courage to introduce myself to Yasmin Sewell at the Sophia Kokosalaki show; on the second day I fell over, flat on my face, on my way to the Lourve, guess I could not hide my excitement. On my fourth day, I threw up in the ladies’ bathroom because of severe food poisoning symptoms. By then, I really could not care what I looked like or what the haughty French thought of me. Here are a couple of pictures taken on the streets of Paris.
Stuck between 2 Ionic columns, I just bought a French Vogue and looking excited after meeting Pauric Sweeney.
This is actually in the Hall of Mirrors at the Versailles, not on the Parisian street. It was so cold that day, and I didn’t wear enough layers.
Wearing my ruffled front blouse, as a tribute to Louis XIV. I still prefer Le Louvre.
A different Laduree, on the Champs, I still had the guts to go and eat there- an entire 3 course meal. Go me! Wearing a Felder Felder jacket and vintage brooch.
This was the day I fell over. I had to get a photo of the most colourful car in Paris. By the way, it seems that French people do not realize that cars need personal space too. Each car was parked within 1 cm of another…Wearing vintage fur, a vest, Savatore Dali red lips brooch, Max Mara wool trousers which did not keep away the cold. I am such a dag, I still have my ‘Acheter’ badge on from the Premiere Classe show room.
