7 years ago today, hubby and I got married. It still feels like it was yesterday. This year was our first anniversary as parents, so we wanted this ‘date night’ to be extra special. Rewind to when we first met, Hubby and I used to spend our free time at uni playing piano for each other. I tried my best to memorize Classical pieces, whilst his fingers glided effortlessly across the keyboard playing jazz. So when we heard about Jazz at the Park, it was music to our ears.
On the first Friday night of each month, Park Hyatt Melbourne’s Radii Restaurant ‘comes alive with the sound of (jazz) music’. The ensemble ‘Impromptu’ entertained while we sipped refreshing cocktails and nibbled on gourmet goodies from a Charcuterie style platter. The soulful tunes and the butter soft leather couches brought back memories of when we first met…
The Radii Bar was so relaxing I almost didn’t want to move upstairs…but then hubby reminded me that a delicious 3 course meal awaited us upstairs in the Radii Restaurant!
Whether or not you watch Master Chef, you can ‘chef watch’ at Radii. I love watching them create pieces of edible art. I also can’t take my eyes off the marble bench tops! Imagine all the flatlays you could do…
Our entrees: Hubby had the calamari (above) and I had the trout. Food at Radii is “thoughtfully sourced, carefully served”, you can see and taste the freshness.
For the main, hubby chose the juiciest pork chop, it had been marinated in brine for 3 hours beforehand, and I had the black Angus rump, it was polished off in a jiffy with a glass of 2013 Cloudy Bay Sauv Blanc.
We had the pleasure of meeting Radii’s Head Chef Tyson Gee. Born in Canada to Chinese and German parents, Gee had worked at the Park Hyatt in Vancouver, and represented Canada at various international food competitions before moving to Melbourne. So should have grabbed a photo with him! Gee said that savoury dishes are more of his specialty than sweet…we believed him until he sent us this…
Even just looking at our desserts selection, I can see how vastly different hubby and I are, and yet we compliment each other so well, just like our third and final course of the evening: pavlova ‘sandwich’ with feijoa ice cream and a decadent chocolate fondant with raspberry sorbet. Can you guess which one I’d picked?
During these 7 years, we’ve been through thick and thin, the good times and the bad, the sickness and the health, the boutique and the baby, I thank God for blessing me with such an incredible husband, to cherish and to hold, to love and to honour, to wine and to dine, from this day forward, at home or at Radii…
Whether it’s for a special occasion or a special someone, why not experience for yourself Friday Night Jazz at the Park?
Aww, what a lovely evening! Happy anniversary to you both! You are such a cute couple, and so well suited! :)
Happy anniversary!
This is so sweet xx
