Kimono, the Thing to Wear

Here’s some trivia for you. Did you know that the Japanese word ‘kimono‘ literally means ‘a thing to wear’? I decided to go a little wild with prints, clashing this beautiful Amalita kimono with my favourite Kyla Crozier silk shirt (last seen here). What’s not to like about a kimono jacket? It adds an oriental flair to any jeans-cum-Tee-outfit and softens the edges of the most grungy ensemble. One day I would love to wear this flowy Amalita piece with a body-con dress for some contrast.

Did you notice my flat pink bottle? It’s not a giant keyring, meet Vapur, my new trusty side kick. When I was young, I used to always carry a water bottle everywhere I went, that was when big totes were the carriers of choice. Nowadays I’m usually holding a clutch, or this vintage Hebe bag (which is my vet work bag as reminds me of a doctor’s bag) so the room for a plastic bottle is becoming increasingly small. And then I discovered Vapur, a Races-conoisseaur’s favourite, this ingenious space saver is the most portable and greenest water bottle on the planet! I got one for hubby too, in blue :) It’s reusable, foldable, attachable, washable and makes a bold statement. Now I have no excuses for parched lips.

Outfit: Amalita kimono, Kyla Crozier silk shirt, vintage beads, sunnies (an even better pair by Alexander Wang here) and belt, Calvin Klein jeans, Repetto shoes, vintage Hebe bag, Vapur Anti-bottle

Are you having a good week? I’ve been working as a vet, catching up with friends, one of my besties is coming back to Melbourne for a fortnight (See her here) so can’t wait to see her, and I’m off to Lady Melbourne’s 1000th Blog Post Party tonight! Guess what I’ll be wearing? :)

Thank you so much for your lovely comments, I love reading your feedback, they inspire me and make me smile. If you like, you can also come chat with me on Twitter and Facebook! I hope that you’re waking up each day to something exciting and going to bed with many blessings to be thankful for.

 xx

Love this Kimono. Going to check out if they have it in my size. Looks great with jeans but could definitely see it with a figure hugging dress too. Thanks for the language lesson!
