After my cousin Evane and I went shopping, as mentioned in the previous blog post, we headed into town for the Japanese Summer Festival. So now you know why I was wearing my Hiroko Koshino skirt- it’s by a Japanese designer! The ironic thing is that it was actually freezing cold for a ‘Summer’s festival, that’s Melbourne for you, 4 seasons in a day.
Despite the weather, it was a pretty amazing experience. I loved trying on the vintage kimonos and seeing all the Japanese ladies dolled up. I was drooling over all the local delicacies but the lines were longer than supermodels’ legs. The highlight of the night was seeing a dude wearing a horse head (don’t you love the expression on his face?) and seeing another friend win the grand prize of the night- 2 return tickets from Melbourne to Tokyo!!!
So how have you all been? This week has been raining cats and dogs in Melbourne, the storms have been keeping every one up at night and preventing smooth traffic operations. I hope you are all safe and sound, drive slowly! Our boutique turned one yesterday. It’s been a miracle that it has lasted 12 months in this economic climate, we are very grateful. Planning our birthday celebrations – with balloons, bubbly and fairy bread :)
Next up – holidaying in Daylesford!
Sounds like a fun festival to be. Was the guy with the horse head inspired by Hermes icon? If so.. he did well.
Ps. I am so sorry if I haven’t been able to read your blog lately.. I was on holiday.. but I am back now!
