HENRY HOLLAND

There are not many designers who could unashamedly admit that they started their label as “a joke”. But then again, they are not Henry Holland. Having founded his House of Holland label at the tender age of 23 and having not had any official fashion design training, he has literally become an overnight success with his famed cheeky rhyming Tees that gave fashion insiders a chance to laugh at themselves. Being besties with supermodels Agyness Deyn and Alexa Chung also helped. Since 2008, the fun, brash and in your face in-jokes such as “I’ll Tell You Who’s Boss Kate Moss” and “Get Your Freak On Giles Deacon” on bold hued T-shirts have earned Holland the prestigious British Fashion Council’s Fashion Forward Scholarship and the title of “one of Britain’s brightest young things”. How did he master the art of rhyme? With his rhyming dictionary of course. No joke. SONY DSC
