“What’s the one thing you can get into shape without exercising?”
Your eyebrows!
Last week I had a life-changing experience: I had my brows threaded at the new Ottoman3 salon in Melbourne Central. Guess I finally plucked up the courage to accept the brow transformation.
I’ve never had an affinity for my eyebrows because they’re short and bushy. In the past, many makeup artists have told me to shape them because they are literally face-transforming. But apart from the occasional tweezer application, my brows have been infrequently visited. But my trip to Ottoman3 changed my view and approach to eyebrows dramatically.First the threading. My very experienced eyebrow artist Deepti showed me my brow angles, described the areas she was to sculpt, and then set off to thread! You can view a video of threading [HERE]. I didn’t anticipate the treading process to be so relaxing. Ok, so the tiny cotton ‘scissors’ zooming past my brows did raise my heart rate, but it was a lot less painful than waxing! Having had a hectic week, simply sitting still and lying down on the comfy chair was absolute bliss. Having been around since ancient times, threading is becoming increasingly popular thanks to its natural and chemical-free nature. It’s like the ‘paleo’ way to hair removal!
Next up, the massage! Once my brows were reshaped by the fine thread, a soothing aloe vera gel was massaged into the area around my brows. It was phenomenal. I didn’t want it to end!
After the massage, my beautician continued her craft. Part three: she showed me how to define my brows using a fine array of Ottoman3 products. The packaging took my breath away. Gold is my favourite colour! My favourite product from the range is the Brow Powder. The founder of Ottoman3 and an experienced beautician, Mini Latif, explains that these 2 versatile shades of Brow Powder, Soft Brown and Rich Brown will match any eyebrow. Guess which one you are.
In the past, I’ve tried brow pencils but they pale compared with the powder. It’s much easier to apply, plus the compact is so chic! I don’t leave the house without a quick application of the brush and powder now. Mimi was right, ‘nothing frames a face better than defined eyebrows.‘
I never appreciated the transforming effect of natural and fuller-looking brows until now. For years I’d given up on my brows, thinking that they were a ‘no-go zone’. But thanks to my time spent at Ottoman3, I learnt that shapely brows are a reality, even for someone as bushy-eyed as me! Now that I’ve become besties with my brow brush, I feel more confident, composed and articulate. This is what I learnt from my Ottoman3 threading experience: eyebrows speak louder than words!

Your eyebrows look lovely! (Also I like your gold dress!)
I had my eyebrows threaded a while back after my friend dragged me along – I had ladies in the office ooh-ing and aahing over them even though I hadn’t told them, haha. I wasn’t such a fan of it but apparently it did wonders for my face :P I’ve never done it since but lots of ladies in the office are happy they have a new place to go to now!
Like the look! Natural but nifty:) goes with everything!
Nice :)
That mini sweat-dress is splendid!
