I’m really embracing the past this week at VAMFF. When I was delving into my closet to see which would do this S. Wallis skirt justice, I found this preppy number looking rather enthusiastic. Just like the “21st dress” I wore in the previous post, I’ve had this cotton knit for over a decade too. A bit collegiate, a little sports luxe thanks to the pearls, it would have been perfect for a cricket WAG!

Actually there’s a cute story about this top. Six years ago when Theodore, our Chihuahua, was still a pup, he attacked it. He was 4 months old and was teething. One day, I came home and found the ‘crime scene’. I walked into the room, and screamed! The knit laid listless on the floor, a pile of beads scattered nearby, and Theodore, sitting by the door, as if to say “and, where have you been this past hour?”

Luckily, he didn’t actually swallow any beads. And after hours of love, my dear mother sewed the pearls back together, one by one.

So, this top is testament that with love, and time, restoration is possible.
