Brose Top // Vintage Cuff, Belt, Skirt & Clutch // Habbot Heels

This cute peplum top made its way to me all the way from Canada a few years ago. Designer Marika Brose has one of the most enviable CVs I’ve ever come across. She studied fashion in Paris and merchandising management in New York. She has worked for Prada, Chloe and Bloomingdales. Now in Toronto with a burgeoning label, Marika designs pieces for ladies ‘who like to go out’.
I love anything with a peplum and everything one shoulder. So this top was a keeper. But it was winter so I stored the top away thinking it’d be perfect for Spring as we tend to go out more in the warmer weather. But because it’s navy, it quickly got lost in the dark abyss that was once my closet. Thankfully, I detoxed my wardrobe recently and found the one shoulder beauty. Isn’t it interesting that depending on which side you stand, it could look either like a long sleeved or strapless top? Appearances can be deceiving.
I have been doing an online course on nutrition. Aside from learning to make better food choices, it has challenged my view on health claims. Many health claims are made by the food industry and present a one sided view or one that’s not backed up by solid scientific research. We live in the age of “Dr Google”, where our health information comes from the top result of a Google search rather than scholarly articles or medical professionals. We can be so eager to get the next quick-fix super food that we neglect the less glamorous, but well established, foundations of good health and nutrition.
So before we make our mind up about anything, or anyone, let’s take the time to find out the whole story. For nothing is one dimensional – especially if it has a peplum.
I love that skirt on you! :) And that top is beautiful, so nice you could ‘rediscover’ it in your wardrobe! When I cleared everything out to make space for baby’s nursery I found so many pieces I’d forgotten about too! I’m trying hard to reduce what I own so that doesn’t happen again, I’d rather open my wardrobe and love everything in it than have it overflowing and never be able to find the things I love!
Hope the online course is going well for you! There’s always something you can learn about health and nutrition, they are making so many advances every day it seems! :)
