Out of all the cities I’ve had the privilege of travelling to, my favourite would have to be Paris. It’s the City of Lights, the Fashion Capital, the most romantic city in the world… Hmm….but then again, it’s also one of the coldest places I’ve ever been to, the home of the snootiest people I’ve ever met, and the only city outside my home town I’ve had food poisoning in. Some of the most embarrassing moments were created there, so maybe it’s not that romantic after all… That’s why I was a little surprised when a dear friend invited us to her wedding in Majorca, Spain. Being a UK resident, she could have chosen anywhere in the world, at least anywhere in Europe, so why Spain? Why Majorca?
For those of you who have traveled to Spain (and Majorca), you’ll have to forgive my ignorance as I’ve never been before. From as far as I can tell, Spain has plenty to boast about. From its incredible culture, delectable cuisine, wondrous art and architecture, everyone who has been to Spain raves about it.The funny thing is that lately Spain seems to be popping up everywhere. After receiving my friend’s wedding invite, I started to notice multiple references to Spain. Every magazine I browsed through talked about Spanish designers, Spanish painters, Spanish food, even Spanish spas, and namely ones in Majorca! Books I’ve read recently mentioned Spain, and even Majorca! The last 2 dates hubby and I went on, to watch Strictly Ballroom and the animated movie “Book Of Life”, both had Spanish influences! Just the otherday, I borrowed a lullaby CD from the library. Guess which track, out of 50, jumped out at me when I skimmed the song list? Number 31, “Going to Majorca”!And according to the biannual World Economic Forum The Travel & Tourism Competitiveness Report 2015, Spain was recently voted as the ‘Most Tourist-Friendly Country’ in the world, beating its European peers France and Germany! You can read the full report here. And look! I’m even dressed like someone holidaying in Spain! So now the question is no longer “why Majorca?” it’s “why not Majorca”?!

My friend has exquisite taste. She has provided us with the perfect excuse to visit “the world’s third most visited country“. Thank God that our parents are willing to baby- and dog-sit. Guess that means I should start packing!
I can’t wait to share with you our photos and adventures on the blog and on Instagram. If you’ve been Spain, please send through your recommendations!
By the way, the winners of the Advanced Style DVDs are Leeyong, Mica and Theresa. Congratulations guys! May you advance into style, all the days of your life!
