For the month of April, I’m working full time as a vet, hence why kittens and puppies are on my mind. We are not allowed to photograph client’s pets but thanks to “Little Dogs: A Love Story” (with a brilliant foreword by Tim Blanks), these photogenic pooches are too cute not star in my #onmydesk #flatlays. Plus, my newly business cards have arrived! They’re thick, sleek and subtle alright!

One of my favourite quotes from the book is this “How beautiful it is to do nothing and then to rest afterwards.” – Spanish proverb
Sounds like something I ought to adopt!

Let me share with you a cute tale a client told me recently about this adorable young kitten.
Ever since the owner adopted him, he had been feeding the kitten can food and dry biscuits. A few days ago, he gave the kitten a slice of salmon for the first time and guess what the kitten did? Instead of eating it immediately, he pounced on it, and growled at it! The owner was gobsmacked! The young kitten had never done that before with any of his packaged foods. Its mother had only been fed commercial cat food too so she wouldn’t have taught him to do this.
What an amazing instinct! I wonder how the kitten recognized the difference between man-made food and nature’s offerings? Did he deduce from the sight, smell and texture of the salmon that it once belonged to a living creature? I guess that’s the allure of #real food!
In any case, I promise that next time I have a salmon steak, I shall refrain from attacking it.
Oh that looks like a beautiful book! I love that last photo (the photo in the book and your flatlay with it!).
I giggled at the story with the kitten though. Instincts can be powerful things!
Glad that you liked the story Mica! That pooch in pearls is divine. It’s really ‘working’ the wind!
loving the flatlays CC!! The colours all work together so beautifully!
thanks Jin! Flatlaying is my new hobby now :D
I’ve also heard of pet birds preferring home grown veg to store bought.. animals must have a true instinct for what is fresh and natural.
Also love those beautiful vintage sunnies!
Thanks Suz! That’s amazing! I thought that they’d prefer their seeds! We all should eat more greens! :)
Love the post and pics! When in Spain, do as the Spanish do – Siesta & Fiesta:)
Love it! Siesta and Fiesta!! That’s going to be a blog post title in the very near future!!! :)
