As you may have noticed on Instagram I’ve been learning to create flatlays. When you see all the pretty ‘on my desk’ photos, you’d think that everything was thrown together, haphazardly. But this couldn’t be more far from the truth. Good flatlays require careful planning, meticulous execution and decent photography skills. I don’t have the latter but I do have LightRoom (a nifty photo editing software). Oh, and a healthy dose of imagination always comes handy too. So here are a few examples featuring some gifts that I consider ‘game changers’.
I was sent this Forever New Perfume bottle tech gift last week. It is an ingenious on-the-go Power Bank! You charge it up first at home, then take it in your purse to charge your phone on the go! It comes with a multi USB adaptor for iPhones, Androids and iPads. it’s small enough to fit into a clutch but t’s much prettier than a phone charger!
Recently Penguin sent me this Jamie Oliver cook book after I confided in them that I’m a terrible cook. Before bub came along, I was always at events, working, socializing, and hardly had time to cook. It’s only in the past year or two that I’ve started to embrace the oven and spend time in the kitchen. So who better than Jamie to teach me family-friendly recipes that are good for the soul?
So you see? Flatlays are easy! It’s all about the composition and the lighting. They’re quite time consuming though, so I tend to set them up the night before after bub is asleep and then photograph them come morning…
Thank you so much for entering the Bevilles Sterling Silver Diamond Wing necklace competition! Congratulations to Deb! I hope you have a flying start to 2015!
Wishing you all an amazing weekend lovelies!
You have a lot of patience and a good eye to create these! :) Whenever I try to setup a photo – of anything – just so, it never quite turns out how I want it. It’s good to know a little about how you do it! :)
lol Mica these were done under the tightest time constraints, I should spend more time on these
Lovely items will give someone nice and attractive look. So it’s really great to get them together.
I’m definitely loving your flatlays :)
And Lightroom… my favourite app.. it’s never been easier to elongate limbs, eliminate wrinkles, and make desserts all glossy! (Not that you need to do any of that!) xx
