Last Saturday, after a morning spent treating puppies and kittens, I rushed home to race to the Caulfield Cup. We only had a few hours before having to dash off to a friend’s wedding (we ended up only being able to go to one, out of 3), but luckily we were able to capture some of the finest racewear style at the Caulfield Cup. The Caulfield Cup is often described as a ’boutique meet’, it is not as crowded as Flemington, but it sure showcases the highest percentage of well-dressed stallions and fillies. A highlight of the afternoon was bumping into Crystal Kimber, with whom I had the pleasure of ‘competing’ at the Fashion Stakes 2 years ago on the same turf. With her futuristic Peter Pilotto jacket and custom-made full skirt, I took one look at her and said that ‘there’d be something wrong’ if she didn’t win. And voila! I may not know much about horses, but I can always spot a style winner. Lady Petrova was another lady who made my day with her Anna Dello Russo-esque Candy hairpiece by The Human Chameleon. She gave the term ‘eye-candy’ a literal spin with her quirky yet exquisite ensemble, the dress is her own design, of course.
Does this white laser-cut frock look familiar? It’s by one of my favourite Melbourne designers, Livia Arena.

So much respect for the stunning pregnant lady who is due in 3 weeks! Her friend’s rouge number is Scanlan & Theodore and the headpiece is by Eugenia Kim.

Brilliant birds flock together: fashion and music editor at The Weekly Review, Jane Rocca, and the fabulous socialite, writer, Shiva Singam.

So yeah, even if you don’t come to the Races for the horses, come for the clothes horses. They’re just as magnificent and entertaining!
I love the races for the fashion. That’s my favourite part and I love that you have captured such beautiful outfits!

I have to say Loren’s all-white outfit is my favourite. She looks incredible! :)
Fabulous photos !
Wow.. now I finally see the appeal of the races. Horses, gambling, alcohol.. what?!! It’s all about the fashion! ;)
yeah racewear is phenomenal- so much thought and effort goes into them. The ladies are all so put together, the looks are so well-considered. They literally go the full mile and dress up from head to toe!
I like the girl in the white outfit
and that yellow dress is wonderful too!
yeah Nicole looks good in everything :)
