100 Issues of Fashion Journal

by cecylia on December 6, 2010

Right after I got back from Canberra I squeezed into a vintage jumpsuit I got from the Canberra vintage fair, sans make-up, and dashed off to the Fashion Journal Party to celebrate the launch of their 100th issue. It was an unbelievable party. Two levels of fashionistas mingling under the one roof, along with Nandos girls serving chicken in red jumpsuits.

This colourful backdrop welcomed me warmly and it somehow reminded me of the Romance was Born exhibition with Kate Rhodes.

I bumped into Cheryl from BusinessChic, also in vintage, and Sarah, from Style Melbourne.

It’s always so much fun bumping into the stunning stylist, Micah, because she rocks it so well on the dance floor and because she wears jumpsuits too! Micah’s white wedges are from Zomp. The thing about Micah is that she doesn’t realize just how pretty she is…which is why she is even more attractive.

With Miss Ghost and Max from Fallen Woman, sporting the Melbourne Noir Looks. Another post on Miss Ghost can be found here. Her marron pumps are the same colour as my Sonia Rykiels ones!

I met this good-looking boy with a photographic hobby, also an architecture student. I actually wanted to study architecture at uni but a friend who was studying it at the time talked me out of it. Yeah you know who you are =P

It was awesome to see the talented jewellery designer Yamilla Guedez (left-most), who also owns a beautiful boutique just off High St Armadale.

I bumped into one of Theodore’s girlfriends Anna, a legal presentative from Kookai. She fell in love with my canine son at the Damselfly party. I love her dress, she’s got to be the most stylish young lawyer out there!

(vintage jumpsuit, belt and shoes; Jerome Dreyfuss clutch, Mawi ring)

And no party is complete without my gorgeous blogger friend and fellow-stylist Jess D, in the most amazing Asos lace shirt. She can pull anything off with style and aplomb.

Thanks Fashion Journal for having me. The party had everything-  great music (just a little on the loud side..maybe I’m getting old), great food, great drinks and a great crowd. I just wish I could have squeezed my way to the dance crowd…

Riding with Ralph

by cecylia on September 19, 2010

Recently I attended some friends’ wedding. A few of us sang a John Rutter song called ‘As the Bridegroom to His Chosen’ for the couple. It was a beautiful day and here are some piccies from the reception.

I wore my Ralph Lauren jacket, my birthday present, for the first time; and my one-shouldered wool Cesare dress from Lane Crawford in Hong Kong, also for the first time. The necklace and belt are vintage. The Omero polka dot stockings are from the boutique because my cheapo nylon ones which were brand new ripped when I tried to pull them up. And you would have seen these butterfly booties from Marc Jacobs already here.

I wore this outfit to work. It was a hectic day. The wedding was in the middle of the day after which I had to return back to work at the boutique. After the store closed I attended my friend Cupcake Central’s shop opening, and then dashed off to the wedding reception.

I caught up with some friends. Mei (left) is such a fashionable lady. She’s the one with the Chloe shoes. The puffy Juicy Couture dress and YSL gold necklace is hers as well. She’s a big Net-a-Porter and Outnet shopper.

Here’s a close-up of our shoes. Which ones’ your favourite?

Can you believe this? Another 7 pairs of our friends are getting married in the 2nd half of the year! There are 4 in October but I will miss 3 of them because of our buying trip, but I will make it up to them when I get back =)

Shoe Lust on Ebay

by cecylia on October 12, 2009

Ebay contains a wealth of covetable fashion finds, espeically footwear. I recently came across a few pairs of my favourite things.

miu miu rose patent flats

First up, a candy-coloured and glossy patent leather Miu Miu flats. They remind me of Melissa shoes, it may just be the effect of the lighting. These are so adorable, like Dorothy shoes, the flat version. Just click your heels twice…

max mara heels

These earthy-toned Max Mara booties are so sophisticated and demure. They would be very stylish for work with a grey suit and smart with jeans.  Admire the craftsmanship, look at all the stitching! These heels are 3 toned!

brown suede leather booties

I saw these suede booties at Zomp, they are so soft and flattering on.  The caramel brown is a classic but the shape is very unique.

fingy boots

These fringe peep-toe ankle booties are insane, very Alexander Wang. You just need to throw on a mini body-con LBD. I adore them. They were from the States though, so I just drooled.

cute peach red shoes

Ok, these are the Dorothy shoes. Utterly modern, these look so comfortable. The round toe pumps are so cute! Dorothy would be able to skip along the Yellow Brick Road in these.

christian louboutin pumps

Good old Louboutins. These black stilettos are the perennial classic. Al tough a little ‘boring’ for me, one cannot deny the understated elegance they exude. Every lady should have a pair of these- fail-safe, they’re little pick-me-ups with any outfit and they make you look like you have just done 1 hour of spin class when you wear them.
