My Lust List at ML Vintage

Hello everyone! How is your week travelling? Thank you for your kind birthday wishes, I may be one year older, but thanks to the amazing company I’m surrounded with, I don’t feel it :P This is the third and final post on the amazing ML Vintage boutique, the vintage mecca of Australia. This vintage Chloe leather skirt is softer than butter, it even has pockets!

This orange Courreges dress was probably my favourite piece in the shop. It’s high up on my lust-list! Mary also has it in other hues, green, blue, mint, red…like I said, this is candy land!

How sweet is this Valentino sweater? As you know, Tutti Fruitty is a big trend right now. This vintage number just proves once again the fashion cycle.

This Krizia skirt is absolutely divine, look at the details! I teamed it with a Missoni scarf and a vintage belt to die for.

Gorgeous Missoni poncho, this would be the perfect travel companion on flights! So comfortable and fun!

There are thousands of pieces waiting to be purchased by fashionistas, everything is immaculately preserved over the decades. I was besotted with Mary’s leather skirts, cute Valentino jumper, Missoni scarves and warps and the bright orange Couregges dress. These are on my wish-list :)

Mary Lipshut – Vintage Designers Heaven

Hello everyone! How was your weekend? I had quite an insane weekend…

A while back I visited the most amazing vintage boutique in Melbourne- ML Vintage, owned by the pioneer of Australian impors fashion business, Mary Lipshut. Mary, and her sister Edith were the first to bring the best Italian designers such as Gianni Versace, Roberta di Camerino, Courreges, Valentino, Pucci, Krizia, Missoni and many many more to Australia. Her collections have been archived to perfection and shoppers are welcome to make an appointment to come and choose their favourites. I know for a fact that many Australian designers shop there :)

Absolutely MINT Vintage. Did I mention that I drooled a lot?

Roberta di Camerino may not be a household name anymore. But this Italian designer was the first to invent using tapestry material for ladies’ purses. She won many awards for her pioneering ideas. Way to go Roberta! The Sixty Group (who owns Miss Sixty) has bought her label and when I went to view the collection last year in Milan, it definitely had plenty of youthful energy injected into all the new bags and accessories!

One of my favourite outfits- the colour is heaven. It may be a vintage outfit, but pleats and burnt orange? They are so right now!

Mary Lipshut- the Grand Madam of Vintage

A little while back my good friend Karen, one half of Finessence Photography and I managed to find a common day off to visit the Grand Madam of Vintage. We have been informed that Mary Lipshut, owns the largest collection of vintage Missoni in the world and has the most comprehensive archive of designer vintage pieces in Melbourne, if not Australia. Everyone, welcome to ML Vintage!

We were dumb-founded by the vast array of collections from the best Italian designers of the past few decades. These are vintage pieces (from the 40s through to the 80s) but have never been worn! They were meticulously cared for, in chronological order and all in their garment sheaths. Mary has original Gianni Versace pieces from the early part of his designing career. We are talking about pieces from his very first collections! This is vintage heaven.

Mary’s older sister, Edith, carefully wraps garments in their allocated bags. These pieces are so well loved. It puts me to shame the way I treat my clothes, I need to look after my wardrobe better!

Mary and Edith had their import business in the 70s called MEREDITH (a clever combination of their names) and they were the very first Australian ladies who brought these high-end Italian designers into Australia. Think Krizia, Courreges, Roberta di Camerino, Valentino, Versace…and more! Wow, I got to meet the pioneers of import fashion!

Mary and Edith have a gorgeous assistant Olivia, who was so patient to show me the clothes and accessories. She had perfect product knowledge!

I was so overwhelmed at ML Vintage, never have I been to a boutique like this, it was part museum, part gallery and part candy-land. I admired everything, Mary, Edith , Olivia, the clothes, the collections! Karen’s photos capture a glimpse of this magical place, you really need to visit this vintage mecca to see for yourself what I’m raving on about. But don’t worry, more posts and more photos to come!

The Western

I have been searching high and low for a well-fitted denim shirt that has the right balance between being modern and classic. At last, I found it, online, at Westfield.com.au. They have a huge selection of Australian chain store and designer labels. A month ago Westfield hosted a spectacular runway show including some bloggers who modeled! It was Australia’s biggest runway show. Wish I could have been there! But we can watch the beautiful backstage footage on Youtube here.

I love the tailored cut and the cuffed detail of the sleeves, this Sportscraft shirt has fast become a favourite in my wardrobe. I love wearing it open collared with jeans for a double-denim look. And it’s on sale! You can purchase it here.

Recently thanks to the influence of Sara Phillips’ new collection, seen here, and watching all 3 episodes of Toy Story, as well as seeing the trailer of the Temple Grandin film featuring Claire Danes, I have started to unleash the cow girl inside. Although going for the Western look, I didn’t want to look too cliche with typical cowboy boots so I took these boots with perforations out for a spin. These Fendi ankle boots were a souvenir from Milan. They are staggeringly tall but surprisingly comfortable. I wore them recently here.
