Stunning Front Window at Peony Melbourne

A spread worthy of Marie Antoinette

A few nights ago I had the utmost pleasure of attending the heavenly scented event at Peony Melbourne Haute Parfumerie for the launch of the recreation of Marie Antoinette‘s perfume, Black Jade, created by Lubin. Guests sipped on French champagne in hand-etched crystal flutes and were treated to the most decadent spread of French desserts and savoury delights. The stunning cake sculpture you see above of icing, fresh peonies, orchids and feather plumes was not by a cake shop but by the talented Ben at Domain Flowers!

Attendees at Peony Melbourne included the lovely Kyra (Pybus PR) and Nish (the most helpful and handsome barman!), Marianne (Esme & the Laneway) and John, Alicia (Sea of Ghost), Cheryl (Business Chic), Gaby (designer, Hopeless Lingerie), Tania (Fashionising), Phoebe (Lady Melbourne) and Aaron, Sarah (Style Melbourne), Ramona (stylist for Project Runway) and her friend, and Theodore! Ah, all the regal elegance!

Black Jade, by Lubin. The legendary scent was created for the beautiful queen of France, inspired by her enchanting secret rose garden in Le Petite Trianon in Versailles. Black Jade comes down the ages to the 21st century via a noblewoman and a dear friend of Marie Antoinette. Notes of the scent include the essence of Calanum, bergamot, cardamom, rose, jasmine, cinnamon, amber, exotic woods, Indian sandalwood, patchuli, vanilla and Tonka bean. You’ve really got to experience the fragrance to imagine the trail of this majestic aroma.

I was scratching my head about what to wear, when it suddenly clicked. ‘BLACK. JADE!’ I exclaimed.

Marvelous Melissas: Score a $100 Melissa Voucher!

Hello everyone! Welcome to my 500th blog post! Have I got a lovely surprise for you! :)

I have been a Melissa fan since I was a little girl! Who can forget their childhood memories of wearing colourful jelly shoes? I remember running through the water, the rain, the beach with them, just because I could! Now that I’m a big girl now, I still adore them!

Here I am wearing my favourite Melissas- the Patchuli wedges, in Mauve, with a vintage jumper, brooch, sunnies, scarf and bag and my beloved Yeojin Bae silk skirt.

I was drawn to the delicate ankle strap, the peep-toe and the line down the heel, which is reminiscent of the lines running up the back of stockings in the 50s, utterly sexy. Melissas are super comfy, easy to care for, we can wear them in the rain and they have that delicious bubblegum smell. Theodore likes them too :)

Stellar Arabella

Last night I had the pleasure pf attending the Arabella Ramsay VIP night at Arabella’s High St Armadale boutique. She has the most whimsical SS11 collection, a Parisian-influenced quirky store, oh and the best vintage pieces! I felt like I was walking into a candy store, my eyes could not stop feasting on the beautiful prints, soft fabrics and eclectic jewels. I was thrilled to catch up with my stunning friend Ebony, who you would have see in my styling portfolio. Here are some sweet memories from last night for you to enjoy!

It was an honour to meet Anna, the designer of Edenborough Evans. This jewellery label is one to watch, and wear! Anna and her sister have trained with the best Italian jewellery designers, showcased their collections in Paris at Premiere Classe (where I used to go to meet accessory designers for my ex-boutique, see here) and have their gorgeous pieces stocked at Arabella Ramsay. You can also see their full collection on their online store here. I bought an Edenborough Evans necklace from Arabella, you can DIY engrave your favourite inscription onto the name plate. After much contemplating, we decided on our wedding date instead of engraving a name. Hubby hammered ’10 Nov 07′ onto it, cannot wait to show you his masterpiece!

It is always an absolute pleasure to see Jane, who is so charming and witty, I adore her! What do you think of the taxidermed rabbit, posing with Theodore? The vintage jumpsuit was a show-stealer, and I really wanted to purchase the ‘surprised rabbit’ but it’s not for sale. How cute is it!

I love knit dresses, the Cylk bodycon dress is so sexy I wore it as a top for this event. The white pleated Sophia Kokosalaki skirt is a vintage purchase from the amazing Paris99 salon. Dhini’s vest is the most beloved piece in my wardrobe right now, I ordered it after seeing it at Rosemount fashion week. The tailoring is exquisite. Gonna wear it with everything!

I had so much fun at Arabella’s store with all the girls that I stayed way too long and missed out on going to Green With Envy’s Josh Goot event and meeting him and Harpers Bazaar’s Christine Centenera. *sobs* Next time I hope :)

Thank you Arabella for having us, hubby is loving his new pocketchief, he’s going to debut it at Caulfield Cup this Saturday! I actually don’t have to plan an outfit for Saturday as I have been ordered to wear the same outfit I wore last week because I’ve been most blessed to be in the Finals for Fashion on the Fields. It’s still so surreal and am getting butterflies about it…will have to share photos with you soon! Have a beautiful weekend my beloveds!

Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower

It’s meant to be spring in Melbourne but the temperature is still in hibernation. So instead of gowning up in floral dresses I decided to debut a knitted skirt I got from Paris last year and a French-made shirt I found in the op shop last week, together to create more of an ‘autumn’ look. Here is the outfit post I promised from the Frock Swap soiree, see here. I got changed in the car after working as a vet, hence sans makeup.

After an afternoon of cheese, champagne and chocolate cake, we headed to OMAH‘s for dinner with the gorgeous Hitomi (see her beautiful blog here) isn’t she divine? You would have seen her last here.

Ever since I was little, friends have referred to my stomach as a ‘bottomless pit’ and I must say, curry laksa is my favourite food in the world, I love it even more than cakes… Even though I was already full, the new ‘Roasted Duck laksa’ beckoned my taste buds to try it, so I devoured the entire bowl, bottoms up.

I hope you are embarking on a gorgeous weekend with your beloveds. I’m off to the movie premiere of Surviving Georgia tonight and a few events at the Caulfield Cup on Saturday and hopefully I’ll see you at Take 2 Markets on Sunday at Hawthorn Town Hall!
