I’ve been a Vogue reader since I could read English, since I was 10 years old (before that I lived in Shanghai). And it has been my dream to one day work for Vogue, preferably as the Fashion Editor but I would be equally happy to fold clothes in their office.
Recently my beautiful friend Sam from Bento invited me along to the Paspaley Pearl Appreciation Night on Collins St. I have always loved pearls – I got strands and pendants for my birthdays, engagement and wedding. But the real treat of the evening was the opportunity to meet the guest of honour, none other than the glamorous Editor-in-Chief of Vogue Australia, Kristie Clements.
Thank God for the Anna Wintour encounter, that experience (documented here) has somehow hardened my skin and eased my nerves so I didn’t go all googly before the High Priestess of Fashion in DownUnder.

Ilona, Fashion Assistant and Kristie, Editor-in-Chief. A force to be reckoned with. I loved their style. Ilona does the slouchy and deconstructed look with aplomb. She’s wearing Prada pumps and the Paspaley pearl cross on her neck, a piece which everyone admired. Kristie is wearing an enviously big strand of Paspaleys…

The stylish duo went on to tell us about how to wear pearls in a unique way, in a youthful and a more ‘day’ way.

I jumped at the opportunity to have a photo taken with the stylish duo.

Sam wearing her Bento shirt (AW11 collection) in Pearl as well as her skirt (styled with a petticoat), Alldressedup necklace with gems, MAWI ring and Chanel bag.
I’m in a Sophia Kokosalaki dress with my own pearls and Aris Geldis necklace, Repetto booties and vintage ostrich clutch.

Don’t you love her Ksubi glasses? I wish I could pull off those funky glasses! We are very proud to stock Bento next year, can’t wait for the pieces to arrive.
The pearl styling session was so informative and fun. I have already started to incorporate pearls into more day looks! Tell me, how do you wear your pearls?
