Meeting Henry, Seeing Felders

by cecylia on November 24, 2010

I have a fascination with blue doors when I’m in Paris. They seem to be everywhere and every blue door is gorgeous- a great backdrop for Street Chic photos! Actually I have this habit even in Melbourne, see this post =)

This is me in front of a blue door at Place Vendome earlier in the year…

Country Road cashmere scarf, Nudie jeans, vintage coat and booties, Pauric Sweeney bag, hotel umbrella

After going to see Felder Felder’s new collection, I’m stoked that they’ve brought colour this season, thanks to Annette Felder’s DJ husband Arthur Baker. They gave me some sweet Felder Felder gear like the bag and the leather bracelet on my left wrist. Pssst also Annette and Arthur will be visiting Australia early next year! Stayed tuned as I will reveal more exciting news later!

Meeting Henry Holland was pretty cool, love his signature do and cute sneakers! I’d love to stock his stuff when Melbourne is ready for it. C’mon gals!

I’m in a vintage silk blouse (there’s this amazing vintage shop on Rue St Honore near our apartment, I bought so many silk blouses there), Karla Spetic cashmere skirt, Miu Miu coat dress (a ‘souvenir’ from Paris Miu Miu), YSL ring  and Jil Sander patent flats (souvenirs from Foxtown)

Ah, the divine Felder sisters. They are so tall! Everytime I go see them I’m in flats…I should learn for next time! They’re wearing their signature hardware detailed belts and pieces from their next SS11 collection, yes yes yes we will be getting that red dress and that skirt! And they’re so sweet, they’re going to make the dresses longer for some of our more conservative customers =)

This silk printed dress is my favourite from the new collection. Felder Felder pieces are made by the same hands that bring you Donna Karan. The girls did many collaborations this seaosn, they even have their own studded sunglasses, shoes with rings and sequinned briefs made by Triumph!

See the shoes with rings? So cute! And the belt around Amber Rose’s waist – we have it in store now!

Annette, me Danni. Cannot wait for Annette to come visit our boutique!

J’adore Felder Felder!

Opening Ceremony for Chloe

by cecylia on November 16, 2010

Ok before you jump into conclusions, (and come on you should know better than to believe that Chloe would allow Opening Ceremony to collaborate with them)… this is a post dedicated to my new bag, my first-ever non-sale designer bag I bought in Paris. My favourite souvenir from Paris.

It was a big deal for me because I was actually on a mission to get the Celine box bag or a vintage Hermes Constance I’d met at Gabrielle Geppert, see here; but all of Celine’s bags were out of good colours. There was only a navy one left at the Avenue Montagne store.

Man, people go crazy around Paris Fashion Week! So since Celine was off the list, my next favourite was a bright orange one from Dior…I really wanted to get a small shoulder bag because I already have so many totes. But in the end after much debate and a twist of fate, the Chloe Daria bag became mine.

So here’s the opening ceremony:

Peek-a-Boo!

The leather is so soft. It’s so difficult to believe that for such a structured bag, the hide is so buttersoft.

Wearing my favourite Antonia Goy silk Georgette dress

So here it is – my new baby =) Oh and Jessica Alba has one too

Chic Parisiennes Part 2

by cecylia on November 10, 2010

In my previous post you already saw my printed Antonia Goy dress, here I am again (on the same day) to show you more amazing Street Chic photos- no not of me! But how cute is the pig?

I walked past these 3 and realized that all 3 of them looked familiar – on other Street Chic blogs. Especially the middle lady- it’s Caroline Issa, the MD and owner of Tank magazine. Later the next day I actually met her at the Felder Felder party… =)  Yes she is a huge fan of the twins too!

I also walked past these 2 and realised that it was Caroline from Caroline’s Mode – one of my favourite blogs! I love the girl on the right too, she is also a blogger. I thought it was Missoni but the set was H&M. How come I never find anything nice there for winter?!

Ah, my adventures continue, as I drooled over everything at Gabrielle Geppert but realized that I could just buy a new designer piece for a similar price…ok maybe the Hermes Constance was actually a good deal (3000 Euros vintage instead of 10,000 for a new one) but I couldn’t decide that and a Chloe croc bag…

To be honest I really wish I could bring this appreciation of style and fashion back to Melbourne. We are too casual and not many of us are fashion-forward. I walked past a basement store which contained the most out-of-this-world avant garde Couture garments- many designed for singers and some private clients. Love this stuff!

That basement showroom was very close to the Maison Martin Margiela store- my mecca. I always pay it a visit when I’m in Paris, no matter how busy my schedule is. After all, Margiela is my favourite fashion designer. He is so original that he’s dubbed the ‘fashion designer’s fashion designer’ and no one reworks classics in a unique and original way like he does. I’m sure he’s enjoying his retirement now.

In Antonia Goy dress, Manning Cartell jacket, vintage Nina Ricci bag, YSL ring and Marc Jacobs booties.

Get ready for MSFW!

by cecylia on August 6, 2010

The weather is freezing. The streets are wet and I still have my winter kilos on me. The only signs of spring coming up around the corner are the sheer flowing flags of a beautiful Lucy McIntosh, the Face of Melbourne Spring Fashion Week. The ads are a little reminiscent of Abbey Lee Kershaw for Gucci’s Flora campaigns.

I was invited to attend the media launch at the Town Hall earlier in the week  to see the Lord Mayor Robert Doyle speak and introduce to the public both the gorgeous Face and the cool Ambassador. Who else best personifies Melbourne style than Melbourne-bred It-Girl Ruby Rose?  Both Lucy and Ruby are beautiful and articulate, and I applaud the committee’s selections. Here are some photos to get you into the blooming mood..

Lucy will be opening and closing a series of the designer runway shows. I’ve already booked for the 2nd show! Cannot wait!!! Lucy looks a dream in a Toni Maticevski dress and jewels from Shag.  She is not just a pretty face, she also has an enviable body and is very eloquent as well. Lucy is recently engaged to Black Eyed Peas DJ Poet, she is actually in search for a wedding dress that will be beautiful and unique enough for her. I’m guessing she will be eyeing Collette Dinnigan and Lisa Ho’s collection very carefully. But she did mention that she would prefer a non-traditional dress, maybe a futuristic Arnsdorf piece?

Ruby’s dress is made by an RMIT student Jack Loder, which you may have already read about in the Monday 2nd August edition of MX. Man, we have some talented emerging young designers in the making! Even Ruby herself is starting her own label. She will be presenting and DJ’ing for the after parties. Is it just me, or has she gotten a lot skinnier?

Another garment that deserves special mention is Shoona’s blue jacket, also made by an RMIT student, Jess Slade. I cannot wait to see the student series catwalk! I love Shoona’s necklace as well!

Sarah – Dhini dress and Etro jacket from Christine

Shoona – Gorman dress, jacket by RMIT student, Jess Slade

Lucy McIntosh – dress: Toni Maticevski, accessories – Shag

Lord Mayor Robert Doyle

Ruby Rose – dress RMIT Student, Jack Loder

Emily – Gorman dress, Akira jacket, Akira leggings

Nerdia – Arnsdorf dress

Luke – Arthur Galan AG

I was lucky to meet the talented stylist Connel Chiang, (you can read more about him here) who created such a bright, colourful and youthful mixture of florals and patterns. He is wearing some silk rose rings from Christine, who was also present at the launch. And I bumped into the beautiful Sarah, of Sarah Style Emporium.

I also befriended 2 lovely fashionistas: Erin, who works for the Herald Sun, and Bronny, of the fabulous online stylist site http://askbronny.com/. I loved their jackets and Erin’s silk top!

Ah…now I just have to get out of my winter flab and slip into something more stylish for the shows. Cannot wait for the 30th August! It will be my first time attending MSFW whole-heartedly. Even though you cannot compare MSFW to London, Paris or Milan Fashion Weeks, MSFW can be my warm-up before I head off to Europe later in the year =)

Who else is going? We should dine together or sit like a front-rower in the back rows together! Don’t forget to doll up and bring your camera! Let me know which shows you’re going to!

love

Cecylia
