Outnet

Candy Coloured

by cecylia on January 25, 2012

Hello hello! You’ll be glad to know that I’m back in summer mode today. In this post where I wore yellow and pink a dear reader suggested that I should team pink and orange together. She must know that I adore challenges. Especially if they are the video game or fashion types. The key to mix colours harmoniously is to combine them in the same saturation. Colours in the same tonal family blend together more naturally. That’s not to say that you can’t mix brights and pastels together, you just need to work a little harder as a matchmaker.

This vintage bag is one of my most treasured possessions. A structured Doctor’s bag, the clasps are pure genius and so far I’ve only seen Fendi re-invent these vintage fasteners. It’s roomy enough to transport our big mamma SLR and fit a pair of flatties for emergency situations.

Another favourite I’m sporting here are these Vionnet satin beauties (last seen here). They are ON SALE now! I bought them for my birthday last year to satisfy my shoe addiction. Classically black and white, they add elegance to every outfit and I mean, EVERY outfit. Talking of shoes, the lucky winner of the Shoesales.com.au Give-away goes to Amanda! Your shoes are flying to you as we speak.

To add a tad of tomboy edginess to this otherwise very girly and ruffly ensemble, I supplemented the outfit with harsh lined shades, cowgirl ‘necklace’ and the gigantic Dynamite MAWI ring. Voila. Candy floss transformed into Sherbet Bomb.

Happy Australia Day for tomorrow! What are you all up to? Or should I ask, what are you wearing? Can you believe that Outnet has an Australia Day sale? I’m attending a friend’s wedding and then catching up with another one who’s getting married on Saturday. Cannot wait!

Where: En route to watch movies

Wear: Vintage everything, Mawi ring, Vionnet heels, Serge Lutens Sa Majestic Rose fragrance

Edenborough Evans, an Italian Love Affair

by cecylia on October 26, 2011

Ciao bella! Can you believe that it’s actually spring in Melbourne? But the weather here is like a flexible gymnast who is a keen show-off. I had a cold not long ago so have learnt (via the hard way) the importance of keeping warm. So here I am, layered up, in the middle of Spring. I recently found these vintage Moschino pants I’ve had for years (last time I wore them was 3 years ago in Dublin) and have refriended them. The scarf is a new addition from the local op-shop, Italians sure know how to make their knits.

I mentioned an Edenborough Evans necklace I got from Arabella Ramsay in this post. The jewellery are wearable pieces of art blending opulent Florentine designs with Melbourne street style, totally up my alley. Anna Cowen, the designer, is a Melbourne-based Visual Arts graduate who trained in Italy, and has her jewels stocked in boutiques from Paris to New York. One of Edenborough Evans’ devotees is none other than the stunning fashionista Ruby Rose, who is also an avid supporter of fine Australian designers. Here is a closer view of the self-engraved sterling silver necklace, oh no still a little blurry… Hammering ’10 Nov 07′, our wedding anniversary date, onto the plate was no easy feat, but hubby did very well. It really is a test of your concentration skills and a nouveau experience not to be missed!

Outfit: Vintage sunnies, Chloe jacket (last seen here), Miss Sixty jumper, Moschino pants, Edenborough Evans necklace, vintage ivory/tassel necklace (last seen here), Damselfly ring, vintage scarf, Repetto shoes

Hammer your very own Edenborough Evans necklace at the whimsical Arabella Ramsay store

1073 High St Armadale Tel: 03 9824 4490

See Edenborough Evans’ full collection on their online store here, trust me you are in for a treat!

And by the way, for those of you who are wondering why I never talk about my boutique anymore, you can find out why here. I’m fine, don’t worry about me, I just feel so incredibly blessed by the whole experience and for your amazing support. So thank you so much dear ones. And who knows what the future may hold for Cecylia? Guess you’ll just have to keep reading and find out :)

Lui Hon visits the grocer

by cecylia on September 26, 2011

Do you remember I wore these incredible Lui Hon feather leggings a little while back for 2 events which fell on the same night - the Camilla & Marc launch and the Stonnington Fashion parade? Well I was discussing with girlfriends at the show that we need to be more daring with our outfits. We are so blessed with a myriad of amazing and creative designers here in Australia, we shouldn’t always opt for the common and safe pieces! So one dared me to go to the supermarket wearing my feather pants. “Is that a challenge?” Alright, it’s on!

So we ducked into the local Woolworths to prove that show pieces are totally suitable for running every day errands including grocery shopping. Ok so I did get a few concerned glances from fellow shoppers, probably wondering about the source of the feathers…but at least they got the message:  dress for yourself, be as brave as you can, and have a ball!

I hope you have enojyed these fun photos, especially the one of me holding a chicken…

And if you’re free next Sunday October 9th I will be holding a store at Take 2 Market at Hawthorn Town Hall where I will be selling many designer and vintage goodies like my green belt in the photos! Please come to help me spring clean my wardrobe. Sarah of Sarah Style Emporium and Irish from Style Zilla will be there too. Woot! Can’t wait!

Take 2 Market at Hawthorn Town Hall (corner Glenferrie & Burwood Road) October 9th Sunday 10-3, add it to your diaries. See you there lovelies!

It’s Tux Time

by cecylia on July 15, 2011

Hi folks! Did you like the RAFW looks in the 2 previous posts? There are so many fashionistas in this country! I wish we all dressed up everyday and not just during fashion week. It’s been a while since I’ve done an outfit post, so here’s one to tickle your fancy!

I squealed with delight when my Outnet package arrived a few weeks ago, containing 2 highly anticipated Alexander Wang dresses. Recently sleeveless jackets have been on my wish-list because they are so versatile and add professional edginess to anything you throw underneath, shirts, Tees, jumpers, you name it. Loving the polished look right now.

I found this amazing silk shirt with musical instruments on it at the local op-shop and could not wait to take it out for a spin. There are French horns on the shirt and to let you in a little secret, I used to play the French horn…10 years ago now! The Max Mara cashmere cape and the YSL belt were souvenirs from Milan. I love shopping overseas as every piece I collect there serve as the perfect reminder of the beautiful memories from that city. The brooch was found in a vintage shop in Switzerland, it was originally designed to hold capes together. The pyramid ring is by one of my favourite Australian jewellery designers, Paula Walden. You would have seen my ‘Hip to be Square’ ring in the last picture of this post, these rings are from the same collection. I am seriously in love with her pieces.

I was very lucky to have a weekend off, a very rare thing in my life. So hubby and I took Theodore to a nearby park to shoot these photos for you. I found this cute grey coat from the RSPCA op-shop for Theodore, it’s hand-made with love. Theodore is not a fan of it as he doesn’t like to play dress ups, something he did not inherit from his mother…

Thank you Alexander Wang for designing this amazing jacket dress, the best thing about it is that the pockets are made from stretch-silk! Yes I’m very attention-to-detail. I hope you are all having a gorgeous week. Thank you once again for reading my blog, for following and for commenting. I love our cyber space relationship. So, do you come here often?

If you like this look, please ‘love’ it here. Have a delicious weekend!

Outfit: Vintage shirt, brooch, clutch, Alexander Wang dress, MaxMara cape, Lanvin heels, Paula Walden and Vivienne Westwood rings
