I have a real fascination with doors. A charming-looking door is inviting as the interiors it embraces. Behind this gorgeous double-door houses the largest vintage collection of designer gear in Singapore. Even though I have viewed the collection a number of times and have purchased the garments my heart desires, I am still tempted to enter in and browse again whenever I walk past this place. Wearing my lavender Massimo Dutti cotton dress, vintage Bally bag, vintage sunnies, wooden necklace and Country Road gladiators.
Massimo Dutti
When I stayed with relatives in Malaysia, I came across an interesting and eye-catching toy in a cousin’s study. He has a pair of Viking-style striated horns, a stack of googly eyes, gill-like appendages on his back and a person dangling from his mouth! He is a bi-ped with rather long claws. He is the Black Beast of AAARRRGGGHHH, from Monty Python!
I love the colour combination of his skin- the bright canary and aqua body parts makes him quite easy on the eye. (sorry for the bad pun). =P I am wearing a linen T-shirt dress from Massimo Dutti. The man attached to the beast’s tongue appears to be a monk. I have no recollection of this lovely creature in the Monty Python series, I really should review the quirky shows again.
AAARRRGGGHHH!!!
I have just returned from an amazing journey to South East Asia. I spent 3 weeks in Singapore and Malaysia. I ate 5 meals a day, visited countless friends and relatives and missed Theodore too much. I also managed to squeeze some credit crunch during the trip. I will be sharing with you my favourite purchases from the holidays in the next few posts.
Two of my favourite souvenirs from Malaysia come from Marc Jacobs, in Kuala Lumpur’s KLCC. There were dozens of gorgeous leather totes on display, all on sale. I spent a few hours being indecisive. The shop assistant ‘Dax’ was so sweet. He was patient and lent me his calculator so I could try to convert Malaysian ringgit into Aussie Dollars. I practically tried every pair of shoes on display and held or touched every Marc Jacobs bag.
After much (and I mean a LONG time) consideration and contemplation…I finally decided on 2 items: a pair of purple suede Runway booties and the limited edition gold-bow-detail wrist tote.
Here I am wearing my new purchases with a gold Toshop watch necklace and a lavender Massimo Dutti (a Spanish label I fell in love at first sight) frilly dress.
The booties are very sweet. I especially love how the cut-out tear drop shaped details are lined with mesh. And I cannot begin to describe how much I love this bag. It was a difficult decision but I know I made the right choice. I love everything about it- the size, the shape, the texture of the butter soft lamb leather, the wrist-bucklet and the big gold zip.
There are only two of these bags in Malaysia and I got the first one.
Here is Dax, the lovely young man who helped alleviate my indecisiveness.
Now I just need to wear the shoes and use the bag and not let them just hibernate in their Marc Jacobs boxes.
