I’m a Museum-holic. It’s one of my favourite past-times, aside from vintage shopping. In Milan I visited the Museo di Milano. It is situated right in the fashion district on Via Sant Andrea (luxury shopping street) in a palace from the 1700′s. I’d just been to the Milan market so I wore some of my spoils. I opted for a classic white shirt, with vintage suede culottes and vintage Prada chain belt, paired it with my Repetto booties, they are the only heels I can walk long-distance in.

I’m sure you’ve all heard fashion gurus say that a classic shirt is a must in a lady’s wardrobe. Being a fashion rebel at heart I have never agreed with this statement. Despite owning at least 5 white shirts, I’ve only worn them on stage for music performances and so I tend to clump them in the ‘boring pile’. But the tuxedo white shirt I’m wearing (sorry you can’t see the folding details) has changed my perception of the classic white shirt. It is actually a savior when you need something sensible to team with the more out-there pieces. I was stoked to find these shorts at the market, they are the softest piece of leather garment I own and had absolutely no blemishes. Not bad for 10 Euros =)

Clutching tightly to my vintage Nina Ricci bag, I carry it with me at all times to prevent myself from splurging on the YSL Muse bag…

I remember signing the guest book and writing down a suggestion of translating the Italian descriptions of every painting and sculpture into English. How cheeky of me.
You see museums and vintage shops have a lot in common – they both showcase treasures from the past, and they both often have interesting visitors. The only difference is that the more soiled pieces can still be very valuable at a museum but the soiled-ness of a garment is inversely proportional to its value. So when you pick vintage, pick clean.
