Happy Chinese New Year everyone! Since I was little, my mother has drummed into me that I should only wear clothes made from natural fabrics or else I’ll turn into a pumpkin. Oh wait, wrong lesson… Natural fibres look better, feel better and age better. And they don’t electrocute you when you remove them. Hence from a teen, I’ve been obssessed with the feel of garments. Yeah, call me ‘materialistic’. When I’m shopping, I literally close my eyes and run my fingers through the racks until I’m satisfied with something soft and luxurious. I’ve actually trained my fingers to decipher between fabrics (acetate, acrylic, alpaca, cashmere, cotton, elastane, leather, linen, polyester, rayon, silk, viscose, wool, and even blends!). I also meticulously check the manufacturer’s label to make sure I’ve not been jibbed by man-made fibres. One of my favourites is Merino wool. Fine-weight, light, soft and durable. They mold to you and are layer-friendly.
Where: on route to Chinese New Year Dinner, hence the sans-makeup, who wears makeup to see their parents?
