A few nights ago I had the privelege of attending the Gala Launch of the 2011 BMW Caulfield Cup. What a night! I must ‘fess up, I’m a Races virgin so when they asked me to be a fashion blogger for the events, I almost cried tears of joy! Because I’ve never been before (shock horror, I know!) I have so much to learn about the Races, the attire and etiquette, I think the research is half of the fun!
The Carnival Ambassador of 2011 BMW Caulfield Cup Giaan Rooney, looking demure in Carla Zampatti and Channel Nine’s Cam Williams hosted the fashion extravaganza and introduced the key jokeys, horses and looks for the Races this year.
The gorgeous designers of Reverie- Christina and Emma (both in Reverie) and their beautiful dress for the Races. Emma made the headpiece herself! Love love love these girls. Reverie is one of the very few Melbourne labels whose pieces are all made in Melbourne with impeccable quality but are also very reasonably priced. I adore their silk shirts and dresses.
Two unexpected Races looks captured my heart! I love seeing untraditional looks and cannot wait to sport the lady-like tux and the high-waisted pants ensembles for the races! Everyone will be frocked up, so why not dare with Le Smoking?
Bree Laughlin -Face of Caulfield winner, and a stunner!
Delectable desserts!
The dress code tonight was Cocktail with a touch of Spring. I opted for a Country Road cocktail dress (last seen here), vintage fur cape (last seen here), vintage necklace (last seen here), a leather belt the FelderFelder twins made especially for me (one of my most treasured accessories), Alannah Hill head piece (last seen here), Escada clutch (purchased that morning at ML Vintage), a Paula Walden piano cocktail ring (last seen here) and Miss Sixty wedges (last seen here).
Are you going to the Races? Have you started planning your outfits? I’m here if you would like any suggestions for your outfit to look even more fabulous on the day.
What are you all doing this weekend? I’ll be working as a vet, catching up with girlfriends, attending the Shanghai Tea party at Oriental Tea House and celebrating Father’s Day! Have an amazing weekend everyone!
