Attending Sophia Kokosalaki’s Show

by cecylia on April 6, 2010

I am sure you would have seen on Twitter all the comments I made about THE highlight of my trip to Paris- attending Sophia Kokosalaki’s AW10 show. I am a big fan of her Grecian-inspired style because I am an antiquity nut who grew up reading Greek mythology. Also I used to be a Titan Quest (an adventure computer game where the hero kills monsters through all the ancient civilizations, starting off at ancient Greece) addict.

I just watched the remake of Clash of the Titans, definitely not as good as the original Perseus was much better looking in the original and the gifts from the gods were actually pretty cool), but who am I to judge Sam Worthington…although there were so many dejavu scenes that were similar to Avatar…

Anyway, I digress. The Sophia Kokosalaki show was held at the Westin, and a fine hotel it is. I have shown far more hotel photos than catwalk photos, because I am a good customer and will not reveal the designer’s new season to the public, guess you will have to come to my boutique in July and see for yourself.

The crowd was buzzing. There were so many cameras. Leigh Lezark rushed past me, she is so pretty.

I managed to get Jo a seat, so we could all watch the show from the 2nd front row. I thought the rich interiors suited the collection beautifully. I love Corinthian columns.

I think I saw Natalie Massenet. I met a lovely lady from the Los Angeles who owns her own online boutique and was hoping to speak to the Net-a-Porter founder too. Actually, I would have been speechless.

I could not believe my eyes when I saw the divine Yasmin Sewell sitting directly opposite me. I eventually gathered up enough courage and went to introduce myself to her. She was so sweet, saying  ’we Aussie girls stick together.’ in her lovely Aussie-Londoner accent.

I know you are all dying to see Sophia’s new stuff, but you will just have to wait =D I am extremely proud to say that our boutique will be the only store in Australia to stock her garments.

Here she is! We spend 45 minutes waiting to be seated, the entire show was less then 15 minutes. The music they played was the most dramatic operatic-style vocal music I’ve ever laid my ears on. It kept singing in my ears afterwards.

The show was brilliant. But the highlight was definitely meeting my favourite Australian fashionista Yasmin Sewell.

What’s in the bag?

by cecylia on March 6, 2010

By the time you read this post, I would have landed in Paris, the city of love and light! Yes, I am probably frolicking through tthe cobblestoned streets, indulging my eyes at the museums and drooling over the fashion, and hopefully clicking away with my camera at Parisian fashionistas.

I am away for 10 days for Paris Fashion Week. It is early Spring in Paris, quite cold. This trip I am taking a patent leather bag because it probably will rain a bit,  so I’m taking my blue Pauric Sweeney bag. In fact, I am going to view their new collection on Tuesday! Very exicited to see the new colours and styles.

In my tote, I carry some vitals which everyone else also carry: phone, iPod Touch (recently I downloaded a French learning course on it ‘je parle un peu le francais’, which aided me when I called to book our hotel in Paris), glasses, sunnies, pens, notebook, Maybelline lash stylist mascara (the only mascara I wear and swear by, it’s designed for Asians I tell you, but apparently they’ve stopped making this model! So this will be my very last mascara!), Jurlique hand cream

and sunscreen (the new bottle is a lot nicer but Google didn’t find one for me). To be honest, I’m pretty low-maintenance and I barely wear make sup, except for the mascara. Skincare is much more important to me than cosmetics so hopefully I will find some goodies from Sephora.  I only found out recently that March in Paris isn’t as warm as I hoped, so I brought along my woollen Country Road gloves as well.

I also have my Paris travel book and writing material. I’m always doodling and writing things down. The purse is my camera bag. I have all our days planned out. I’ve even marked on the map which stores we will hopefully be visiting and all the showings we will be attending for my boutique.

I hope you are all well. Please let me know if you are at Paris Fashion Week as well so we can meet up. This is a buying trip, I hope my selection satisfies my Melbournian clients. I will certainly not skimp on French food either. Really looking forward to going to Le Procope again and visiting Laduree. Macarons, here I come!

Red Alert

by cecylia on November 25, 2009

I went to 2 high schools, both of which had me in the Red Houses when I was young. We competed against the Yellow, Green and Blue houses in music, sport, swimming and debating. So from a young age, I had to wear daggy red Polo shirts. But now the appeal of red has returned to me. Red just brightens every outfit and it is beautiful for any skin tone.

Having complied a collection of red outfits from various Streetchic sites such as The Sartorialist, Elle.com, Garance Dore and various other fabulous blog sites, here are the ladies in red.  Red really is such a fun colour to wear, don’t you always feel dressed up when you throw on something red? Whether that be a crimson bag, some red shoes, or a garment in scarlet?

My favourite red photo: She is wearing a red jumpsuit!!! I am so envious. Judging by that slim figure, the structured high cheekbones and that fearless stance, I am guessing she is a model- off-duty model. I like it how she’s teamed it up with a boyfriend blazer and leather thongs.

Sitting pretty: the girl with the serene expression- I love her cute brooch and the drapery of her red jacket. Lovely scarf too.

Carolina Engman of A Perfect Guide. She is one gorgeous blonde. Recently she was featured in Vogue Germany, the lucky girl! Ok, so this is more pink than red, but I had to sneak this vintage cape in!

What a lovely wrap! Love her hair and her Pocahontas-style turquoise earrings. This was a Garance Dore photo. She has captured the joy and warmth of the moment so well.

Here is Garance holding her high-tech camera. I love her little quilted mini and those fabulous heels. Her friend has a covetable red Balenciaga.

I know you are robably thinking that she is a little furry…but her red booties are to die for! They’re certainly attention-grabbing. Who’s wearing a furry jumper?

And finally, a Gwen Stefani look-alike.  Peroxided hair, tick. Big dark sunnies, tick. Red hot style, tick! I love everything she is wearing. Great accessories- love the blue belt, the brown toe and her awesome 2tone pumps. The backdrop provides a brilliant contrast- beauty can certainly be found in every corner.

Eyes Wide Closed

by theodore on September 30, 2009

For some reason, even though I am the most photogenic Chihuahua on the planet, I often close my eyes when I am photographed. It may be because my parent’s camera has such a bright flash and my blink reflex is so fast that I am unable to keep my eyes open.

Complete zen, don’t you think? Or just plain sleepy.
