LMFF Runway 7 presented by Cosmopolitan

by cecylia on March 25, 2011

LMFF has been insanely awesome this year. Ok I don’t actually have anything to compare it with. Because to be honest, this is my very first LMFF! Yeb, no longer a LMFF virgin! That’s because ast year I was at Paris Fashion Week, and the years before that…I was a full-time-vet with both of my feet out of the fashion door. But you’ve gotta admit, this year LMFF have really uped the ante. International guests alone have made our runways super stellar. And there have been so many ‘first-times’ this year especially with Fashion Full Stop – Retrospective of Australian Fashion and the Menswear Runway! I’m sure next year LMFF is just going to get even bigger and better. Can’t wait!

Thank you LMFF and AMPR for giving me front-row seats this runway and allowing Theodore to attend. Theodore was a little more fidgety during this parade for some reason. Louder music, perhaps?

I was so happy to meet Tullia Jack, the lady behind The Spirit of the Black Dress. I really wanted to attend those events but my schedule was too crazy that week.

Here are some of my favourite looks from these designers:

Wayne Cooper’s long romantic dresses – why save them for night? Team them with a long cardigan or a cropped blazer!

Maurie & Eve – I adore those lace shorts and the jumpsuit!!!

Joveeba- I’ve never loved blue more than I do now. And the addition of tan accessories is just so modern and right.

It’s difficult to miss this gorgeous bird – Jasmine of Friend in Fashion. You would have seen her at the Penthouse Mouse party too!

The Fashionising Team! Alan-Tania-Daniel, the trio that is rocking the fashion world around the globe. No kidding, I’ve never seen or taken a bad photo of Tania. She is stunning from every angle.

‘Family Portrait’- husband, Theodore and I

Even though I feel like a zombie from all the shows and trying to balance working at the vet clinic and at the boutique, I am on a fashion high. It’s the last day of LMFF and I already miss it! To show my love and respect, I wore the most out-there and runway-appropriate outfit I could find that still had my signature on it – a vintage jumpsuit with plenty of ruffles. This number was an eBay find and I’m sure you can imagine my excitement when I received this jumpsuit in the mail.

Vintage jumpsuit, belt, clutch, bangles/Pinkie the Snail ring/Paula Walden ring/Scooter velvet heels

Ah I hope you’ve enjoyed reading my posts on LMFF. The blog posts from now on will revert back to its normal size (not so many photos) and hope to see you at the next fashion week- wherever that may be!

The most comfortable pants in the world

by cecylia on May 11, 2010

One day as I was driving home from work, I heard an interesting debate on the radio. The radio hostess was explaining her refusal to tracksuit pants being chic. She didn’t understand the heels-with-trackies look, obviously not a fashionista, but who am I to judge?

I actually have really come to embrace the trackies with heels look. Of course not all tracksuit pants are all the same. You need to choose a decent cut, preferably one that tapers distally toward the calves.

My husband took some sneak shots of me on the phone the other day. I’m wearing these amazing Country Road pants that I saw on their catalogue. The first time I raced to the store, they didn’t have the pants yet. I went again in a few weeks, and there were only one pair left!

It was the first time I wore these pants, they were the last pair in my size in Melbourne, thank God they fit! I wore them on the plane to Paris. This bag was a recent EBay win. I really liked the colour and the weave pattern. I’m not actually wearing heels, but chic flats will do as well.

Here’s a blurred shot of the bag and my giant watch.

This is off topic, but my all time favourite food is Curry Laksa. I always feel like it and it makes me so happy, and so full. One restauranteer even named his curry laksa after me, calling it ‘Happy laksa’ because he’d never seen anyone so joyous about a bowl of noodles. Now you know why I like wearing comfortable trackies.

Did I mention that we have Guitar Hero?

by cecylia on April 23, 2010

I forgot to mention in my previous post about one other unique aspect of our store- it is super boyfriend/husband/partner-friendly. Not only do we sell yummy cupcakes and serve delicious tea for the boys, we also have a Play Station 3 (a recent EBay winning) for them to play Guitar Hero! Now everyone can strum!

Rocking the shop floor!

The ironic thing here is that both of these men are actually guitar maestros.

When men are not in the shop, we watch Street Chic photos and current catwalk shows on the TV!

Come and visit us when you’re in the area :)

Cavallero

by cecylia on April 17, 2010

I know, this is not a food blog and I am certainly no food critic. Although being a food taster, that I can do.

Recently, I came across a cafe on Smith St in Fitzroy called Cavallero, and have been going back there again and again ever since. You know my fascination with beautiful doors, so I could not go past these antique wrought iron gates.

I look especially tanned in this photo for some reason (not a good thing for Asians).. anyway…wearing vintage blouse, necklace, belt and shoes Sass & Bide cardigan and Nudie jeans, carrying a vintage bag from Ebay.

This is the Barramundi with mixed vegetables, I’m sure the name was fancier on the menu.

I am such an avid food fan and have a bottomless pit for a stomach I would not criticize any food I eat, except for the food I ate at a certain restaurant in Paris that gave me food poisoning…but it did help me shed some puppy fat, so how can I complain?

This homemade spaghetti with crab meat is my favourite dish. I actually regularly crave for it. It is the Western version of lobster noodles, extremely tasty. After eating these home-made spaghetti, my taste buds refuse to touch the other boring stuff.

You can’t go past a good steak.

I hate to say this, but dessert is not their strong point, I have had this lemon tart twice, and each time I regret having it afterwards. It is a lot more sour than it looks.

Nevetheless, Cavellero is one sassy place to have for dinner. Bring friends and enjoy the chilled atmosphere.
